"Oh look, a chicken nugget."
Today I deviated from my normal touring plan strategy and slept in.
Yep, you saw that right. Let it be known that on Saturday, November 9, 2019, I chose a couple hours of sleep over more hours in the park.
But eventually I did awaken and made my way into the parks with one thing on my mind: photos. It was going to be a warm day and I wanted to get the photos out of the way before the sweat set in.
First up was the big ole Christmas tree! I think I waited about 15 minutes for these. Photo lines would prove to be pretty long all day. It was the first Saturday with all the official Christmas stuff and there were lots of families out to get their photos!
Then I hopped in line for Mickey. This one was longer, closer to 30 minutes probably. There was a girl a few people in front of me with a shoulder porg and at one point Cruella came past our line, pointed at the porg and said, “Oh look, a chicken nugget.”
It was amazing.
The interaction with Mickey was pretty standard. He liked my ears, which look like his sweater and we got some pretty good photos.
Chip was meeting over in the corner of Town Square and I popped in that line next. Chip was one of my favorite interactions of the whole trip. He loved my shirt and asked me which one of the mountains was my favorite. I said Big Thunder and that’s his favorite too!
Then we pretended to ride a roller coaster together. Iconic, truly iconic.
Next up in my characterpalooza was Minnie! This interaction was super short, pretty much pose-photo-pose-photo-done.
That may seem like a good amount of photos for most (and way too many for some), but was it enough for me? Absolutely not.
Come on guys you know me better than that.
On my way to the castle I paused for a Partner’s Statue detour where the PhotoPass CM had so many awesome pose ideas. The photographers were on their game today- it was awesome.
I counted 23 shots from this session. Not too shabby.
By the time I got to the castle the line was pretty long and the sun was shining right on it so I figured I would come back when the lighting was a little less horrible.
This pale skin can’t handle direct sunlight.
And now we break for some pictures that are not of me:
So what do I do when I’m not getting my picture taken? Eat. And there were some special holiday churros calling my name.
Check it out- cookies and milk churros. Yeah- they’re as good as they look.
Next up was a photo tour of Rivers of America and New Orleans Square.
As I finished up I saw Moana come out and there was hardly anyone in line. I haven’t met her since Aulani a couple years ago. We talked about taking care of curly hair and I told her a Hei Hei joke that Jon made up. I’d tell it here, but it really needs to be heard out loud.
Sorry bout it.
My heart was pulling me to DCA (and more food) and my feet faithfully followed. My first order of business was purchasing a Sip and Savor pass, which was a pass with 8 vouchers for food and drinks from the Festival of Holidays booths. I checked the menus and prices ahead of time and it turned out to be a good value for me.
The line was really long, maybe 20 minutes. But long food lines would prove to be the norm today so I guess it’s good that I got used to it early.
The special holiday parade was about to start so I grabbed my first FoH snack of the day - the fried turkey slider – and took it with me while I waited for the parade. I found a spot to chill and wait. I had no idea if it was a good spot or not but it was in the shade and I got to sit down so to me it was great.
But in terms of watching the ‘parade’ it was indeed a pretty bad spot. But the parade wasn’t really a parade, it was more of a small collection of people and characters dancing quickly down the street and then stopping to perform a short but fun set.
The character assortment was a little random, it was Mickey, Minnie, some Pixar characters, and Clarabelle. But it was still a fun show.
When it was over I followed the mass exodus toward Pixar Pier.
