A gentle warning about carry on bags

We like to take carry ons... family of four, we take four big carryons always - like to have majority with us and not checked, just worry about what if luggage lost (which probably shouldn't worry about, as hasn't happened to us ever... yet!)
BUT... whichever airline we're going to be flying with, I always go to their site and check the size of carry on they allow - and make sure what I use complies with that. Am so afraid otherwise they'd say sorry, too big, need to check it.
In reality, our carryons end up being much smaller than what I see others have, and no one is telling them their's are too large. But still there I am with the tape measure, measuring our luggage.

A flight we took from MCO in October... man sitting next to us, solo passenger, had FIVE carryons! how, I dont' know, but yep, he somehow brough 5 carryons onto the plane with him. How that was allowed is beyond me. Then of course he complained about not having room overhead to put everything.

Nothing wrong with placing your coat in the bin. Everything wrong with defending much more than the space , say, occupied by the fur using your own arms now that the animal that used to be inside that fur is dead and gone and preferably eaten.
.

What.... dude, sometimes I totally wonder where you are coming from with your posts.......

now, back to carry ons....... can I carry on my bowling balls for the flight? In the overhead compartment? :rotfl2:

I could think of 2 reasons

1) you really shouldn't travel with your wallet in your back pocket it makes you an easy target for pick pockets

2) he put it in his carry one before he passed through security (to speed things up) and didn't remember to take it out until he needed it.

Two words.... CARGO PANTS! I love em... wallet is in the front and easy to get at!

Most likely the Blue shirts will not allow such dangerous potential weapons throught the checkpoint.

Four more words - bulky clothing, enhanced patdown.

;) :rolleyes1

I think the airlines have it all wrong.

They should charge $20. for every carry on that has to be stored in the overhead bin. Don't charge for checked bags.

Could you imagine that wonderful flying experience - everyone on board on time, no problems getting seated and ready. Easy on and easy off.

I for one, never sit in the asle seat because I'm afraid of what is going to come down from the bin and fall on my head!!

Spirit is now charging for carryons.

To be more specific, if it doesn't fit under the seat in front of you, it's considered a carry-on, and you will have to pay for it. If it's more than 16 x 14 x 12", you pay. If less, it's free, but it must go under the seat in front.

Umbrellas, diaper bags, coats, etc., are free.

I think that passengers do the best that they can now that most airlines charge for carry-on bags. We get free checked bags on Delta because of my DH's status but we carried on everything in December 2009 when we flew Air Tran. It was a pain and I had to buy my DD a new bag but the price of her bag was less than it would have cost to check our bigger bag.
