Can't wait to hear about it.

Who cried???? I'm guessing everyone! :lmao:

YAY on the AKL  You are going to love it. It's so pretty. And the beds are way more comfy than POP! (Better shampoo and toilet paper too!)

great update and pics.

I wish I was at POR food court right now.

Congrats on the upgrade to AKL.

Sorry I've been MIA for a while - I was in Rome ;)

Anyway, great updates! I haven't been to Sea World since I was little and that lunch sounded really good! Especially the raspberry grapefruit beer - that sounds divine.

Wooohooo on the upgrade to AKL, I'm staying there in September and can't wait :thumbsup2

What wonderful news about the awesome upgrade!! :cool1: Great update and pictures :thumbsup2 Looking forward to your next update popcorn::

Yeah for AKL:cool1: Check out the kids programs for me when you're there so I know what they're like when we are there in the summer. I know, I know, you don't have kids with you, but pretty please with sugar on top? Hope you are having a fun time. We leave on Sat for Disneyland!

OK, now I am officially jealous - AKL! Congrats!

Good update. Hooray for Poppa and pools!

Had a nice relaxing week with the family. It was fun even though it wasn't "Disney". I don't have the energy tonight to do a new chapter so here is mini blurb about Myrtle Beach to tie you over.

It rained for the first three days. We got one nice beach day in and two days that seemed warm to us Canadians but in truth really weren't sunbathing weather. Luckily our resort is sheltered from the wind and I scored the prime lounge chairs so I managed to salvage the so-so days.

Here are some pictures from our trip. I spent most of today figuring out how to download them using the program that came with my new camera. It doesn't have as many features as my old adobe photoshop program did. So I can't make myself skinnier or get rid of blemishes or wrinkles with this one.

Here is a view from our balcony. I forgot to take a sunny picture this year. It is our third year at this resort.

Here are a couple of pictures of the indoor lazy river. That's what makes the yucky weather tolerable-the indoor pool, hot tub and lazy river.

Eeoyre is swimming with a friend.

One the first full day there- I escaped to workout and left the kids with Dh. He got into the spirit of playing with them (and the other 17 or so of our friend's kids that are down there with us) and chased them around the lazy river. Well, someone fell and got hurt. You aren't supposed to run around pools.

Thankfully it was one of our kids. It was Eeoyre. He fell running up the stairs you can see in the pictures while his father was chasing him. He hit his head on the outer part of his eyelid on the concrete edge of the stairs. He was wearing his swim shoes.

Apparently there was blood everywhere. You know how head injuries can really bleed. Eeoyre was a real trouper and didn't cry in front of anyone. He is the oldest child out of all the families there and takes the responsibility very seriously. A couple of fathers carried him up to our room and some mothers took over the care of my other two. Search parties were set out for me but everyone thought I was running on the beach so they never looked in the workout room.

The hubbub was all over by the time I got to the room. Everyone was waiting for me to decide to take him to the hospital for stitches or not. This is what I saw when I returned.

I declared him fine and decided not to get any stitches. The other fathers left our room and both Dh and Eeoyre got a bit weepy. They had been holding it in until they saw me.

It took two beers to calm Dh down. He doesn't usually have to deal with trama like that but Eeoyre settled down once I turned on the Disney station. He watched the new episode of "Sonny" something or other that we can't get in Canada yet and was in 7th heaven.

Other than that our trip was pretty tame. We went to Planet Hollywood for dinner one night. Food was bland but the kids were good.

Cindy is fasinated with the Titanic. We saw the exhibit when it came to Toronto last year. She was thrilled to see a place setting from the movie.

Cindy and I played mini golf instead. We searched for the libbylu store but it had closed down. She was happy just to have me all to herself.:lovestruc

Now we're home and it's back to the grind again. I hope to have another chapter out soon. I know I have to get it finished before I leave for the Animal Kingdom Lodge in 32 days. Woo Hoo!

Awesome, congrats on AKL!!
Have a safe and fun, relaxing spring break trip!!
Can't wait to hear about it.

I'm back but now you're gone. Can't wait to hear about yours too. I thought of you when I was in the Lazy river.

Who cried???? I'm guessing everyone! :lmao:

You know a certain someone did get us all upset and tears were shed by all of us. So in a way you are right but someone started the ball rolling and you'll have to wait and see who it was.

great update and pics.

I wish I was at POR food court right now.

Congrats on the upgrade to AKL.

I'm super excited! The kids are super jealous that I'm leaving without them.

Sorry I've been MIA for a while - I was in Rome ;)

Anyway, great updates! I haven't been to Sea World since I was little and that lunch sounded really good! Especially the raspberry grapefruit beer - that sounds divine.

Rome! You were in Rome! You can't just drop that and move on. Tell me more!!!!!

Wooohooo on the upgrade to AKL, I'm staying there in September and can't wait :thumbsup2

Is this with the whole family?

What wonderful news about the awesome upgrade!! :cool1: Great update and pictures :thumbsup2 Looking forward to your next update popcorn::

I'm still in shock that I upgraded. I'm afraid I won't be able to turn back after staying at a deluxe.

Yeah for AKL:cool1: Check out the kids programs for me when you're there so I know what they're like when we are there in the summer. I know, I know, you don't have kids with you, but pretty please with sugar on top? Hope you are having a fun time. We leave on Sat for Disneyland!

You should be in Disneyland as I write this. I'm afraid no matter how much sugar you put on top I'll be walking right by the kids programs. It's an adult weekend all the way and I deserve it!

OK, now I am officially jealous - AKL! Congrats!

Good update. Hooray for Poppa and pools!

If it wasn't for the latest discount codes I never would have done it. I was so disapointed when the discount codes started coming out. The stay 4 get 3 didn't work out for me as I was only going for the weekend. The bounceback offer blacked out my birthday dates, and my first ever email 40% off code blacked out my birthday dates too. I got a pin code for kid's staying and playing free for my dates but I wasn't bringing them even if Disney paid me. So I was so happy to hear that another code came out that would apply to me. My TA totally rocks.

OMG, I just had to say that I'm thrilled that you could upgrade to AKL, you are going to have a wonderful time. I stayed there last May, and it was beautiful. I can't believe you leave in just a bit over a month!! And hopefully that means another TR!!!

Your Myrtle Bch trip looked like a lot of fun. I've never been there.

I wasn't bringing them even if Disney paid me.

:lmao:

I'm really very happy you could work it out for AKL. I'll have my stay there. I'm just not sure when.

The beach trip looked like fun. Glad the injury wasn't worst.

Tuesday August 26th, 2008

Animal Kingdom Day.

Today was our last full day at Disney. We would be heading home tomorrow. In truth, we were all ready for home. With the weather and the cramped Hotel room we were done. Dh, Poppa and the kids were looking forward to going home. For myself, I had started to feel that panic that us Disney Addicts get when they don’t have another trip to plan.

Then there was the bounceback flyer I found on my nightstand after returning from Sea World. I prayed for it’s arrival the year before. You see I knew during our August 2007 trip that we would be back in August 2008. Everyday I searched for the flyer in my room that summer. I even called Disney to see if maybe it was just a fluke that I was left out. I wish I had mentioned my plight to Poppa. He was staying in a regular room and received a flyer. He threw it out as it didn’t mean anything to him. Since we stayed in a family suite we were never given the offer. Or at least that was the reasoning the Disney agents gave me. I later heard of people on the disboards that stayed in a family suite and still got the offer.

So anyway, after a whole year of wishing for some sort of discount and not getting one, seeing the bounceback flyer was torment for me. Why couldn’t I have gotten this last year when I could have used it?

My mind raced all night trying to figure out a way to convince Dh to come back again next year. I knew I could never convince him to bring the whole family three years in a row. The plan was to return again in 2011 with my brother and his family. I have a firm commitment out of Dh for it. However not so firm out of my brother. Why he doesn’t have the same love for visiting the parks I don’t know? There is only year difference between the two of us so he was with us all those years we camped at Fort Wilderness.

Anyhow, that night the idea of a 40th birthday trip for me was launched. I dared not mention it out loud to Dh but the seed had started growing in my head. Just knowing there was a possibility of another trip next year made me feel better. I still hated the bounceback flyer and the fact that it was a year too late. I took a picture of it but then deleted it because even carrying around an electronic image of it bothered me. I couldn’t let go of the flyer completely and throw the thing out but I did have to turn it around so it wouldn’t mock me.

With visions of a birthday trip dancing in my head I began the daily chore of waking the family up.

“Good morning Darlings, It’s time to get up. It’s a beautiful sunny day out there.” I say in a cheery mary poppins voice as I swing open the window coverings.

“Don’t care” replies Eeoyre.

“I don’t want to get up” states Jedi.

“Five more minutes” murmurs Dh.

“Where are we going today Mommy?” says Cindy brightly.

I’m taken a back a bit. She rarely wakes up in a happy mood. I shake my head to recover from the shock and lift her up from her trundle bed into bed with Dh and I to squeeze in a morning cuddle with her. She grins appreciatively and showers me with hugs and talks of all the things she wants to do today at the animal kingdom park.

By this time Jedi has noticed that someone else is getting all of Mommy and Daddy’s attention. He never likes that. He slinks over and plops himself right in between Cindy and I pushing Cindy away.

“My Mommy” he says in a possessive baby voice.

“Yes, Jedi but I am also Cindy’s Mommy and she was here first. In this family we don’t push each other over to get what we want.”

Jedi lowers his head and bats his baby blues at me hoping that I will be won over by.

I am not moved. I do however move Jedi and welcome Cindy back into her original spot.

“There is room for you here” I say pointing to the spot on the other side of me on the bed.

Jedi puts his chin in the air and walks around the bed to Dh. He settles for cuddling with him instead.

I catch Cindy sticking her tongue out at Jedi.

“Cindy, that was not necessary” I say as Jedi’s hand crosses Dh to swap Cindy. Cindy returns the favor but all the commotion has caused Dh to take action.

He catches Jedi’s arm in mid-attack as he tries to retaliate.

“I am resting here. If you two are not going to rest then I suggest you both get out of MY bed.” He says in such a gruff voice that magically the two listen to him. Or else it was the fact that I had turned the television on at the same time and Stacy was talking about the mountain trifeca.

I don’t know what it is about Stacy that fascinated my kids but they turned into zombies watching her. You don’t think Disney sneaks in some sort of sublimineal messages in there do you?

We all got changed and ate breakfast in the room. We still had lots of cereal and milk and needed to use it up. Just as I imagined we would be able to leave on time I heard Jedi say “I can’t find stitch”.

Each morning I had the kids put their pajama’s under their pillow and put their stuffy on top. In doing so Jedi realized that he couldn’t find stitch.

“Did you have him last night?” I asked.

“No, Daddy said he was under the bed”

So we searched under the bed. I had been keeping the empty luggage under the boys bed. But no stitch. We tore the bed apart but never found stitch.

Well, I’m sure you can all imagine that this caused a meltdown for Jedi. He’s not super attached to Stitch but he bought him on our last trip and wanted to bring him back for a visit.

After much consoling and hugging we came up with a plan. Dh was going to phone housekeeping and see if they had found him.

Jedi thought it was a good idea and calmed down a bit.

“But Daddy, Stitch is always playing tricks on people. I think he’s playing a trick on me now”

Cindy countered with “You know Jedi, maybe Stitch just wants to stay here at Disneyworld. It’s where he came from you know. Maybe he knows we’re going home tomorrow and doesn’t want to leave.”

Jedi thought about this. I was afraid Cindy had gone too far. That Jedi wouldn’t believe her or that he would be mad at Stitch for leaving.

After a few moments of silence Jedi responded with “Yeah, He really likes it here. He told me.”

So that was it for Stitch. Jedi declared him returned to his home here at Disneyworld and we took off for the Animal Kingdom.

We were even on time for rope drop.

Only they didn’t have rope drop today.

The park was already open. It wasn’t an early day or anything. I asked. They just decided to open a few minutes early.

We stopped for a family photo. It's not my favorite but I'll post it for you.
22612df7.jpg

It was a hot day. Our first stop was Kali River Rapids. Only it wasn’t open yet. Technical difficulties. No fast passes working today.

I had to rethink the plan. We headed for Dino world. Jedi wanted to ride the primeaval whirl. Unfortunately unless you counted the curly mop of hair on top of head he was a smidgen too short. For the second time today he took the disappointing news in stride. I was beginning to think this turning six thing had really affected my boy.

We all decided to ride the triceratops. Here is the ever popular dinosaur buttocks pic.

Just as we were getting in line for a second ride we spotted some characters appearing from the back of the park. The kids forgot about riding again and ran to see them.

OMG, I just had to say that I'm thrilled that you could upgrade to AKL, you are going to have a wonderful time. I stayed there last May, and it was beautiful. I can't believe you leave in just a bit over a month!! And hopefully that means another TR!!!

Alice- you're back! I missed ya!

I'm really very happy you could work it out for AKL. I'll have my stay there. I'm just not sure when.

It might be a last minute surprise like mine is. I'm totally psyched for it. In fact I changed one of my ADR's today so we could eat at Boma.

The beach trip looked like fun. Glad the injury wasn't worst.

Me too. You know that expression "It's all fun and games until someone loses an eye"? We've been joking about that a lot in our family lately. Cause it totally brought everyone around the pool down when Eeoyre fell. The rest of the vacation everytime one of the kids would run around the pool the mothers would all say "Do you want to get hurt like Eeoyre?"

Looks like a great trip to Myrtle Beach minus the eye injury. Now get going on the tears! :rotfl2:

I'm warning you now the tears don't happen until nightfall and since I've just posted the morning you know it's gonna take me at least two chapters to get to it. Hopefully you'll find a few amusing events in the next couple chapters to keep you going until nightfall. Oh, we have a night out tonight too. So you better make it three chapters.:rolleyes1

Boy I sure missed a lot! Myrtle Beach looked like a blast, and Animal Kingdom too. Great save by Cindy on the Stich. I hope you have a blast at AKL on your all adult weekend!

Our Last Character Interaction!

We never did ride Triceratops one more time. After talking to Goofy and Pluto (who we had practically all to ourselves for 5 minutes) we decided to try Kali River Rapids again. On our way out of dinoland we passed the entrance for a character interaction. I know it has a name it is just escaping me at the moment.

There was a CM outside of the entrance encouraging people to visit the Pooh and his friends.

“Can we Mom?” Six eyes pleaded with me.

“Oh Guys….We saw them at the Crystal Palace.”

“Yeah but I want to see them again” said Jedi.

“Please Mom?” Even Eeoyre wanted to see them.

“Pretty pretty please?” Cindy implored clasping her hands in the prayer position.

“I’m afraid that if we take time out to see them now we will have a long wait for the rapids.”

“Excuse me Ma’am” the CM at the entrance spoke up. “Sorry to break in on your conversation but I thought you might like to know that Pooh just came out and there is only three other families that have gone down to see him.”

Well, who could resist that. So off we went to visit Pooh, Eeoyre and Tigger. As promised by the entrance CM there was hardly anyone there before or after us. We weren’t rushed and as a bonus the photopass photographer caught lots of great shots-candid and posed.

Here are some of the photopass pictures.
