me: Hello. I'd like to make a reservation for BCV in a 1br for 5 nights beginning January 15.
MS: I'm sorry. The new minimum length of stay is now 7 nights.

me: I hadn't heard that. When did that happen?
MS: 3 days ago. They just haven't notified anyone yet. But it is on the disboards. You should really check there frequently for the latest changes.

me: OK. Well then make it for 7 nights. But I don't have enough points. I'll have to borrow some.
MS: That won't work. Borrowing has been suspended.

me: Really? Well ok. Just make it a studio then.
MS: Sorry. That's 104 points and your contract is only 100 points.

me: Well, I guess I'll wait until the 7 month window and use some of my BWV points too.
MS: The non-home-resort window is now 2 months, so you can make that reservation in 9 months.

me: But if I wait that long and can't get the reservation, I'll be past my banking windows.
MS: Not to worry! You'll be pleased to know that won't be an issue, as banking has also been suspended.

me: Why are they making all these changes:
MS: Research has indicated that members have wanted these enhancements.

me: What members? Nobobdy ever asked me.
MS: I'm sorry. Privacy dictates that we can't give out his name.

me: But my 100 point BCV contract is now unusable.
MS: Yes, but that will greatly reduce calls to MS, and your maintenance fees will go down.

me: Arrggghh!
MS: Thank you for calling. Have a nice day.

OH, I had to edit my own post, My grandmother said, " if you can't say anything good, then don't say anything at all!' I sure hope this never comes to this! But you are right, give it a few years. The way they are going with our rights.

I see what you are saying, but the contract does limit some of those bad issues, as I just happened to glance at the "home resort rules and reservations" online and noticed: (document dated March 2007)

"From eleven (11) months through and including eight (8) months in advance of their desired check out day, Club Members have exclusive access to reservations at their Home Resort. During the Home Resort Priority Period,"
(Notice check out day, in\-line with the current change)

4. Minimum Stay. The current minimum stay at any DVC Resort is one (1) Use Day. However, DVCMC may require, from time to time, that a minimum number of consecutive Use Days for a particular season or special season be reserved. The number of consecutive Use Days required to be reserved shall in no event exceed five (5) Use Days.
(Note cannot require more than 5)

Banking and/or Borrowing may be suspended or limited by DVCMC from time to time in order to maintain a proper balance of Home Resort Vacation Points in the Club's central reservation system.

Unfortuantely, everything in the Home Resort Rules and Regulations can be amended so long as it is published at some point in a DVC publication. As I am sure you know, your first quote regarding the Home Resort Priority Period has just been changed and we can expect to find furhter information in the Fall DVC newsletter. -- Suzanne

It also states that all changes must be publicized BEFORE being implemented. That was certainly NOT done in this case.

Besides, there is a paragraph that states that DVCMC may change the rules and regulations at any time in their sole and unfettered discretion. That single statement pretty much makes all the rules and regulations moot!

True. And don't forget that this includes accepted behavior and criteria of acceptable occupants - ie: smoking, and in the future perhaps such things as the foods that might be cooked in a unit, the weight of a guest who might sleep on a bed or sit in a chair, if alcohol is permitted in a unit, any action or behavior on a balcony which might be viewed as a transmittable disruption to another...even eventially perhaps if you have purchased admissions to a park....never say never apparently.

They were publicized. A office memo was sent around Membership Services and the recording when calling MS was changed.

John there is no such requirement on modifications of the reservations methods as was posted yesterday on another thread. The only requirement is they publish it at some point but not necessarily before going into effect. Putting it on the website and in Disney Files will easily satisfy that requirement. I would agree they should have but it's not required.
