Welcome to "A funny thing happened on the way to Via Napoli..." (We wound up in Rome!) ...
It's a PTR for a summer (July 2013 the 11th-21st) road trip to Disney World, the written equivalent of a reality tv show about an offbeat American family of four and a Travel Review of that family's week in Rome all wrapped up in one package.
3 Weeks ago in Rome
We have a wonderful summer road planned for DisneyWorld in July... there will be stops along the way in Charleston, SC. and a side trip to Universal before staying at the Boardwalk Inn (DVC) at Disney World and then we'll be stopping by Savannah on our journey home...
We recently came back from a wonderful week in Rome from March 17-25th... wonderful and wacky (Rome was wonderful ... we were wacky...)
The cast includes...(if you've read any of my previous TRs or PTRs you probably know I have a keen fondness for Alice in Wonderland...& if you haven't-you'll know now, so I'll share both their real names and their given AiW inspired Disney names...)

3 Years Ago in the Animal Kingdom
Alice, (Emily) currently 18, is a wonderful daughter and sister, smart, kind, talented, compassionate and just a bit intense at times... She looks graceful when she is standing perfectly still but she has an issue with furniture and walls sometimes... they have a habit of getting in her way when she walks...
She loves American history and the English and French language, books, travel, food and fitness. Like Alice she has a talent for getting into unusual situations but somehow manages to also get out of them. She is a senior graduating in June...and will be off to college in Fall... (far enough to be "independent" but not too far for weekend visits

3 years ago in the Italian Pavilion at Epcot
Favorite Disney Character: Belle
Favorite Disney Park: Magic Kingdom, Epcot is making ground though
Favorite Disney Restaurant: Flying Fish, Boma

3 weeks ago in front of the Colosseum
The White Rabbit, (David) currently 10, awesome son and brother, brilliant, quirky, also compassionate with an amazingly creative view on the world (which I will be sure to get into along the way). He can be quite witty without even meaning to or he get himself into a bout hysterical laughter from inappropriate words he has learned while sneaking on Utube (sigh...) or learned from other 10 & 11 year old boys at school. He doesn't have a cruel bone in his body however neither is he capable of producing a believable little white lie. (We will again get into this down the road). Don't ask for David's opinion unless you are really sure you want it. He adores science, poetry, Greek & Roman Mythology, swims and is learning to drum. He is currently on a crusade to save the Honey Bee (which I wholeheartedly support). Like the White Rabbit he can get nervous and hates being late. He is currently in the 5th grade and will be in the 6th in the Fall...

David 3 years ago at Sci Fi
Favorite Disney Character: Goofy
Favorite Disney Park: Epcot
Favorite Disney Restaurant: Sci Fi

David three weeks ago at the Pantheon
The Mad Hatter, (Eric) fabulous father and husband, funny, tolerant, kind, protective & probably the most stable and sane one in our family. He also loves travel, Dr. Who, Sherlock Holmes, James Bond and good mysteries. He has a weakness for picking up furniture or machinery that he can rehab which sometimes happens and sometimes doesn't. He loves a good classic diner. His cocktail of choice is a Manhattan although he likes good hard cider. He's our rock. Why did he get the Disname Mad Hatter? Because I'm a little scared that the rest of us may drive him crazy someday by our
drama.

Eric three years ago at Tusker House...
Favorite Disney Character: Donald
Favorite Disney Park: Animal Kingdom
Favorite Disney Restaurant: Yak & Yeti

Eric three weeks ago at the Trevi Fountain
Finally, yours truly the Cheshire Cat, (Patricia) who tends to smile or smirk -depending on your point of view. I think I'm a fairly compassionate person although I am fiercely protective of my family and friends; and have little tolerance for cruelty or purposeful ignorance. I love books, coffee, sampling wine, travel, history, civil discourse, travel, food and I am learning to embrace fitness as a means to feeling strong and centered (it's a process
There are days that I feel I am channeling my inner Alice or conversely, my inner Queen of Hearts.

Me in Sanaa three years ago
