A friendly warning about confetti

We were there the first week of Sept. (had a WONDERFUL trip, btw) but one day as we were entering MK a cast member came over and sprinkled a rather large handful of mickey confetti on my 2.5yo's head, w/o asking or anything. They also sprinkled some at my mom's seat at CP for her bday, but at least we could push it away from Quinn. 2 weeks later and we are still finding it. Quinn was chewing on something yesterday, it was a piece of mickey confetti... Just beware if you have little ones, the stuff lingers and really could be a problem for them.

You're still finding it two weeks later on your child? I can understand glitter getting stuck to the scalp, but what is the confetti stuck to that he's still finding it - in his hair?

No, not on my child. It got into the fabric folds on the stroller, in some paperwork that we are just not getting to. I don't know how or why it's still being discovered but it is and my son picked it up and started chewing on it. I don't think it's very responsible of cast members to shower young children w/the stuff, is my point.

People without little kids (especially college age people like many CMs are) just don't really think about that kind of thing. At the Halloween party, we had my DS 4 walking with us and then my 12 month old nephew being pushed in his stroller. We went to one candy stop and got some candy in our bags and the CM said, "And here's some for the little guy" and dropped a handful of wrapped hard candies and things onto the 12 month old's stroller tray! I'm sure he thought he was being really nice, but we had to swoop down and pry Jolly Ranchers out of his little hand as he was trying to stuff them in his mouth, which caused a screaming fit. Still, the CM was trying to be nice, so we just smiled and said thanks and went on our way.

Honestly, eating a piece or two of Mickey confetti probably wouldn't cause him any problems. Most kids that age have eaten much worse. He'll just have some "magical" poop!

I would have to agree with the above poster. It was probably meant in good spirits, albeit misguided! I shudder to think of the activities I did with kids when they were too young to either appreciate them or have the motor skills to participate, when I was in college and babysitting. Once I had kids of my own, let's just say most mothers learn by DOING!

I hope your little guy doesn't get any of those in his system or his poop will have pixie dust!

glitter and confetti...

My mom sent me some in a birthday envelope for my 28th or 29th birthday. I didn't expect it (she wasn't the glitter and confetti type), and opened it on my bed.

I have moved...SEVEN times since then. It has been almost 10 years (and my mom died 7 years ago), and I STILL find that glitter and confetti in my stuff every year or so.

Might just be a "hello" from my mom, or it might just be that the stuff sticks around. 2 weeks is just the beginning!!!!

Just think everytime you find some in his diaper, you will remember back to your vacation.

My oldest as a toddler ate ant piles with ants included.

Thats too funny. My daughter had fairy dust embedded into her scalp for a good month from visiting the BBB. And she washed her hair every other day!

you guys are prob right, i'm just too overwhelmed by the people magazine articles I read on the plane about the stuff kids swallow and the intestinal crises they caused. it does linger, i can't believe how i'm still finding pieces of it, lol. i did get a piece in my mouth at CP and it's kind of like when you eat a piece of something w/the tin foil on--blech! and i just had these visions of intestinal bleeding... i need to be back in Disney!!!!!! reality is just too much for me!!

I did not have to worry about DD eating it but it does stick around forever! DD was 3.5 and throught mickey shaped glittery confetti was so cool and collected it. By collecting, I mean stuffed it in pockets, bags, anywhere she could stash it. I found mickey head confetti in the lint trap of my dryer or in a shorts pocket or in tote bags for months. The stuff seems to stick in every crack and crevice even after you thought you cleaned those things out. I just decided it was a reminder of how great a time we had and was a little pixie dust every time one turned up!
