A friend fell seriously ill while on vacation in Orlando- UPDATE!

My sisters BIL and SIL were on vacation at WDW and they went to get a massage. After the massage he stood up and then passed out so the spa called 911.

When he got to the hospital they discovered his body was full of bruises and he had blood blisters in his mouth. Then they found out that his platlet count was down to 2,000 and they said the norm is 50,000.

They keep giving him platelet transfusions and the count goes up but then it goes right back down again. They can't transfer him back up here until his platelet count is stabilized, they did a bone marrow biopsy but haven't gotten the results back yet. Right now he's at Celebration hospital.

We're going away overnight and I'll update when we get back, hopefully with good news.

If you could spare some extra prayers, please say a few for Chris. Thank you.

DH has ITP and it sounds like Chris could have it too. (Obviously I am just going by what you said, I am in no position to diagnose him.) Anyway, when his platelet count drops he is admitted to the hospital but is not given platelets. If he gets platelets his body just destroys them, that sounds like what is happening to Chris. DH is given IVig by IV and large doses of Prednisone. The IVig treatments are very expensive, the last time he needed 4 doses. I hope they can find out what is wrong with Chis and correct it soon!
