We're heading down to our "home" the last week in August. :cool1: My DH and DS's are huge space nuts and snagged tickets to Kennedy space center for 8/27 which is schedule for the next shuttle launch. They are so excited. So "the mom lady" has a free day by herself. :teeth: A few folks have said that I should go to the launch, which from what I hear is not to be missed, but I'm not into space or stars what so ever and I definitely don't want to rain on their parade. I know I would not whine or any thing but I think my husband would feel like he had to "hurry up" because he knows I would be bored and I don't want that. I think it will be a great "guy time trip for them".

So Disser's What would you do with a free day by yourself??

I would probably go to the launch-but that's just me. I saw one a few years back and it was an incredible experience.

If I had a day alone, I think I would spend it at EPCOT. Wander the countries, shop leisurely in the stores, snack on a pastry in France-lovely. You don't mention if you're a ride fan or not, but I would probably hit Soarin.

You could head to DTD, do some shopping and have a nice lunch-or even take in a movie that the boys might not want to see. Perfect day for a "chick flick".

There's also a spa day, which could be really nice. Or just a lazy, lay by the pool and get some sun kind of day. Then, when your boys come back from the launch all excited, you'll be ready to hear about their day.

Nice opportunity for you. :sunny: Depends on what "you" like to do. :confused3
I probably would enjoy sleeping till 8 then going out to breakfast, maybe a little shopping....alone (how wonderful), some pool time then hit a spa for a relaxing massage. But definitely ...Have Fun !! :thumbsup2

I've always wanted to hit the MK by myself, without having to go on Dumbo, Teacups, Splash Mountain 20 times, etc. I would just explore, look for the hard-to-find details I always have to walk by when we're just going from ride to ride. I would also spend some time sitting and looking at the castle, taking in the atmosphere on Main Street and poke around in shops I never really get to see.
You can also take the monorail / buses around to the resorts and check them out, if you want a park-free day.

Here are my ideas:

1) hit the World Showcase - taking your time in the shops and snack places
2) the pool with a good book and a tropical drink
3) the spa at GF followed by tea at the GF cafe. I did this is 2004 - It was wonderful
4) DTD taking the time to do whatever

Let the guys go for bonding and do whatever you want.

ooh... epcot, I'd get up early (ish!) and wander the world showcase, have breakfast in france (croissant and a cafe au lait!) and just take in the atmosphere in each land.

maybe leave in time for tea at the grand floridian or go over to pofq for the boat ride to dtd.

enjoy your resort, or explore some new ones! I myself fancy a monorail day, where I visit each resort on the monorail to check them out, shop and drink...

I would definately spend hours liesurely roaming the lands in Epcot. Maybe do a fun tour such as snorkeling at the Living Seas (there are lots I'd like to try but my DD8 is too young for most) or a spa treatment. And don't forget a nice long afternoon nap to revive my wearly body from the week's activities.

No matter what you do, ENJOY!! :thumbsup2

Oh, stroll along EPCOT's World Showcase. That would be my choice, no question.

Take in some of the musical acts, hit the stores. Try some foods you haven't tried before. Converse with some of the exchange CMs from different countries. Enjoy the architecture of the pavilions and their attention to detail. Sit on bench in the shade with your favorite beverage, overlooking the lagoon, and just....chillllllllllllll...

If I had a day to myself I don't know what I would do. Probably the World Showcase at Epcot. I have always wanted to do that, but my children are not that interested yet.
I think a spa day sounds wonderful, but I can do that here. I would try to do something I could only do at Disney.
Checking out the monorail resorts sounds tempting or taking my time to explore MK or AK.
Whatever you choose to do I envy you and hope you have fun.

I had that luxury in March. Two whole days, totally alone, meeting up with DD in the evenings after her coference. It was delicious! I spent a day at MK, exploring nooks and crannies and details and peoplewatching. I did a few rides that were walk-ons. Then I repeated that scenario the next day in the World Showcase. It was absolutely wonderful. I am considering going solo again in a few weeks before starting a big project at work that will keep me vacationless for the next six months!

I would go to Boatwright's for a late breakfast. Then, I would return to the Yacht Club and lay by the pool. In the late afternoon, I would head to Downtown Disney's West Side and see Cirque de Soleil. Following the show, I would have a late meal at the House of Blues. :)

Pick YOUR favourite ride and do it over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over.

Then pick YOUR second favourite ride and do it over and over and over and over and over and over and over...

And then top it all off with a hot fudge sundae (or the flavour of YOUR choice).

Whatever you do, have fun!

Where are you staying? Could you have a leisurely day taking advantage of the hotel recreation? That's what I'd do, it would be lovely to have some time to myself away from my DD just to relax so I'd definitely take advantage of the peace and quiet!! ;)

On any day I get to myself at WDW you will find me wandering around Epcot WS shopping and enjoying everything! I just love it!

We're at the villas at wilderness lodge, first time staying there.

The same thing is happening with us. A bunch of our family is going to the launch. DD11 and I just were not interested in going to see it. (I know it is amazing, but I would much rather be in WDW!)

So.....I booked DD and I into the Epcot Aqua Seas Tour.

I wanted the Family Magic Tour, but it was all booked up. So we are doing that. It starts at 12:30. So figured DD and I will have breakfast, maybe hit the pool, then head to Epcot. Do the tour, it is 2.5 hours long. Then we will spend some more time at Epcot. Her other request--going to Beaches and Cream! I am looking forward to the day, as we are a party of 8, so will be nice to have a day more relaxed and without so many family members!! Will be a great memory for DD and I!!

I looked at the spa, but for a mother/daughter day at the spa was $490!! :faint:

So, I would check into the tours. We only had 3 to pick from, as DD was too young for most of them.
Here they are:

Have fun!!
