Day 1 October 4
Traveling to the World
Cast of Characters
DH = Hubby of Sound Mind - 31
Me = Freak 30
?? = character yet to be named
We awoke fairly early to make the 1.5 hour trek to the airport. DH always insists that we get to the airport at least 2 hours in advance to allow for any potential mishaps. No problem. I am always happy to sit at the airport and read a book. We had no issues with our drive and we were delighted with the Jet Blue service. Nice seats, a nice friendly neighbor and a TV all to myself. And wouldnt you know it the first channel I turned to, the Travel Channel, was airing its Disney Secrets show. Great show! I had no idea that you could SCUBA dive with the fish in the living seas too bad I never followed through on that dream. Someday But this day, someone above was looking out for me and I was lovin life.
We arrived at Orlando Airport at about 3:30, retrieved ALL of our luggage at the carousel (phew), rented our Avis car (Monte Carlo), and we were on the road by 4. I had an idea how to get to our hotel (the Courtyard by Marriott in DTD), but DH got a map and directions from the Avis person anyway. Well, she sent us through China. North exit of the airport, to 528, to I-4, to exit 64B. I suppose that many of you already know that the closest exit from I-4 to DTD is 67. So we drove right by it knowing all along that we drove right by it, but we followed her directions and had fun looking at all of the sites along the way.
When we finally made it to the hotel we were greeted by our wonderful bell cap, Virgil. He handled the bags while I checked in. I asked for a king-sized bed and a room in the tower facing DTD. I knew it was a long shot, but I got 1 out of 2 the bed. Our room was on ground level near the pool area. It was great to be able to run to and from the pool whenever we wanted and the room was very quiet so we were not disappointed.
Once settled we walked directly to DTD and ate at the Rainforest Café for dinner (5 ish) and had no wait! We thoroughly enjoyed our meals (I had the shrimp caesar salad which was delish and some the Rainforest Ricky YUM!) and spent the rest of our relaxing evening strolling around the Marketplace and thinking of souvenirs to get at the end of our trip. In the meantime, we discussed our parks plans. My plan since the beginning of time was to
Sunday = Magic Kingdom (and MNSSHP)
Monday = Epcot
Tues = to the Enemy for Islands of Adventure
Wed = Enemy again for Universal Studios Florida
Thurs & Friday = visit Hubbys brother in West Palm Beach
Saturday = whatever makes us happy.
I should have known that my plans would again go awry
