how much do dogs usually drink in a day?
my Angel seems to be really thirsty, shes drinking about 2 cups a day I think ( hard to tell some times the cat drinks from her bowl too) I dont know if its just that the weather is warmer ( she's got long hair) or if something could be wrong.

Hmm, well, my two labs go through at least 2 bowls a day, tho I have to say, a large percentage of that is drooled on the floor If you are worried, I would watch the amount of intake, even measure it, then compare to the amount of output and also energy levels. Call the vet if you have any worries, that is what they are for!

Also,how old? How active? What kind of food?
I have very active Dobies and they drink gallons! If its an all of a sudden increase for no reason,give your vet a call. Sometimes with an older dog its an indication of diabetes.

well shes 3 1/2 as far as we can tell but she acts much older, the Vet says its purely a guess on her part because her teeth are in such great shape but she seems to be older ( she was a pound dog).

She is not very active though she does chase around the neighbourhood with the kids. She is still eating her regular dog food, its extra fiber, shes a bit overweight.

My dog only seems to drink a bowl a day, but will drink more as the weather heats up.

2 cups of water a day would be normal for a small dog but too little for a medium to larger sized dog.

Hard to measure how much the water level goes down in the toilet.

Gallons?! We have a 6 month old Dane and a 7-8 yr. old small Husky. I am constantly filling their bowls. ( I am also constantly yelling at the guys to keep the toilet lid down! Ewwwww!)

LOL Damo! I had a lab who PREFFERED toilet water even when his bowl was full!

My Pug doesn't drink water at all while I am at work, maybe she is afraid she will have an accident if she does She drinks afew bowls in the evening though, so wants to be walked alot at night.
