I got this email from a friend of mine today about her little girl and wanted to share it with you all.

"We all think our children are amazing... today, it was
proved to me that mine is.

My 5 yr old daughter madison Drew this picture of a
Rainbow in her computer class today. She called it
"RAINBOW SMILES" and after they completed their
project they were asked to tell the class about them.

She stood up in front of the class to tell the
teacher.... " But I didnt make it for my class to see,
i made it for the kids that lost all their toys in the
rain... if they see a rainbow they will know the storm
is over."

She was refering to the Hurricane Katrina
disaster...and i thought that was pretty amazing and
wanted to share that with ya'll... she also insisted
to me that she was to bring money to school to buy
them new toys last friday... she is 5, and this has
all touched her so very much, makes me feel good about
the future of the world.... because our children have
hearts of gold. ~jessi"

Here is the picture she drew:

Awwww. You have a precious little girl. It amazes me how our children can react in a time like this.

I have done my best to spare my 4 year old son from seeing all of this suffering that is on TV every day. He walked in on me while I was watching the news in my bedroom the other day, and before I could turn it off he saw pictures of the children and a baby with no diaper on. He asked me what had happened with those kids, and why they were so sad. So I explained that there had been a hurricane, a really bad storm, and that there homes had been filled with water. That they didn't have their homes, toys, or even clothes (or diapers) to wear. He was pretty satisfied with that explanation and left me to watch the news. Later that evening during dinner, he told me that he wanted me to help him pack up some of his clothes and toys (and some of his baby brothers diapers) to send to those little kids that didn't have anything. Then he asked me if he could send them his TV so that they could watch cartoons and smile. Let me tell you that I BAWLED :sad1: :sad1: This little boy LOVES his TV and was wanting to send it to the kids in LA. I explained that they didn't have electricity so they wouldn't be able to watch TV even if we could find a way to send it, but that we would go to the store and get a bunch of things to send them. We bought formula, Peanut Butter, Tons of water, some clothes, and some diapers and donated it at our local Sam's club.

The generousity of children can totally take you by surprise. They are truly willing to give the shirt off their backs (or their favorite TV's) just to help someone out. There are alot of us that could learn from them.

My just 5 year old daughter emptied out her piggy bank and brought the proceeds to her school to donate to their Katrina Fund. She later found some change in her wallet and insisted on bringing it to school the next day. This all from the girl who last year refused to give any of HER money to the Tsunami victims.

She begged me to write a note to Santa. She wanted me to tell him that if a little kid could give her money to the hurricane victims, he could give something too. She even volunteered to give up her presents this year so that the hurricane victims could get more toys.
