The Crystal Palace (Pooh, Eyore, Tigger and Piglet)
@ 11:35am (lunch) on 12/20/10
We arrived about 10 minutes early, and were seated on time. Our table was right next to the servers’ beverage station, but we didn't find it disruptive at all. The layout of the dining room was perfect for characters moving around in a patterned rotation ... It flowed very nicely, which allowed us to see each of the characters two or three times. Our server was very personable, and went out of his way to bring us a times guide, which we didn't ask for but needed. The buffet food seemed typical ... Nothing really exciting.

Chef Mickey's (Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald and Pluto)
@ 7:05pm (dinner) on 12/20/10
A couple of hours before our reservation, my parents decided that they were not going to join us for dinner and called to change our ADR from four guest to two ... The change was granted without a monetary fee, or charge to our Dining Plan. My daughter and I checked-in right on time, but had about a 15 minute wait to be seated. As we were being lead to our table, we noticed three of the characters in our dining area. We were placed at a corner table by a window over-looking the pool. We soon realized that the characters in our area were working away from us, so we took a trip to the buffet. Shortly thereafter, we were visited by Donald Duck. Over an hour and several visits to the buffet later, we watched as Pluto enter our area of the dining room and then completely skip over our little table in the corner! Thankfully, the nice veterans at the table next to us kindly informed someone, and he came back shortly there-after. At this point, it had been over an hour and we had only seen two characters! With full bellies, we continued to visit the buffet so that we didn't appear to be loitering while we waited to meet the other three characters. When I couldn’t take it anymore, I mentioned it to our server and she sent a character representative over to our table. He assured us that Mickey and Goofy were in the next room and would be over very soon … Minnie was running behind and if she wasn't to our table by the time we were ready to go, come find him and he will take us to see her. And that is exactly the way the remainder of our character experience at Chef Mickey’s played out. In retrospect, I wish we would have cancelled this meal when my parents did … It was less time consuming to see these characters at The Character Spot in Epcot. As for the buffet, I thought the food was typical and not very exciting … Except for the little desserts, which I really enjoyed.

Akershus (Belle, Cinderella, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty and Ariel)
@ 9:40am (breakfast) on 12/24/10
We checked-in on time, and had about a 10 minute wait. We posed for a picture with Belle (which was brought to us FREE of charge during our meal) before being escorted to our table next to the buffet. The area was pretty cramped, which made it difficult to get good pictures of the princesses’ gowns. As for the food … I loved the fruit selection on the buffet, and liked having the hot portion of the meal “family style”.

1900 Park Fare (Pooh, Tigger, Alice, the Mad Hatter and Mary Poppins)
@ 8:00am (breakfast) on 12/25/10
We arrived to our reservation 15 minutes late and 1 person short because my Dad was sick (FYI: we were not charged for him). We had a few minutes wait, and then they took our picture next to a Christmas tree (which they tried to sell us during our meal) before seating us at our table. Pooh and Tigger seemed to work their way around the dining room quicker than the others (probably because they can’t speak), and we saw them a couple of times each. While Alice was at our table, the Mad Hatter initiated a little impromptu role playing with her right in front of us! Meanwhile, Mary Poppins skipped over our table, but checked back several times before we were ready. Again I thought that the buffet was typical and not very exciting … I did realize however, that personally, I much prefer the breakfast buffets to lunch/dinner buffets.

Tusker House (Donald, Daisy, Goofy and Mickey)
10:10am (breakfast) on 12/27/10
We arrived early and were told at check-in that they were about 5 to 10 minutes behind schedule. To help ease the wait, they had heaters out on the patio and were serving free hot chocolate! Before seating us, we had out picture taken with Donald Duck (which they brought over and tried to sell us during breakfast). The character experience here was good, but my favorite part was the food … This buffet had quite a bit more variety than the others, and I left not just full, but STUFFED!

We posed for a picture with Belle (which was brought to us FREE of charge during our meal)

Technically the photo is not free of charge. The cost of the photo package is included in the meal price.

True, if you aren't on the Dining Plan. For those of us on the Dining Plan ... Akershus is 1 table-service credit just like Park Fare or Tusker House, where the photos weren't included.
Personally, I think that they should just be consistent with it ... One way or another.
