A Few TiW Questions

I've read over the TiW info page and I have a few more specific questions:

It says that the discount may be used for the cardholder and up to 10 guests as long as the card holder pays the bill. Can the check be paid in cash?


Is the discount valid at Food & Wine booths? I know is says not valid for Food & Wine Events. I didn't know if that referred to the special demos and tastings or for everything Food & Wine.

The check can be paid with cash but they'll ask for your id to compare it to the TiW card if you're not using a credit card that they can check the name against. About 1/3 of the CMs asked for id even with the names on the TiW card matching the names on the credit card that was used.

The only non-resort QS/snack places that take TiW are three QS restaurants at AK (Flame Tree, Pizzafari, Restaurantosaurus). No other QS restaurant/booth/cart outside of the resorts accept TiW...including Disney Springs.

Yeah, she was asking about what you're referring to, I just wanted her to be aware due to the all-cash transaction she'll get definitely get carded by CMs who might typically just accept matching TiW and Credit Card. It's interesting they always asked for your ID that wasn't my experience, after a while of the inconsistency I just placed all three (id, TiW and credit card) in the check folio thing so there were no questions asked.

Can someone explain to me why it is worth paying for TiW if I am already getting a discount as an AP passholder----if you are NOT planning on buying much alcohol. I will have an occasional glass of wine. Traveling with my kids, so not alot of alcohol on my bill. This year many of the restaurants are offering a 20% discount for AP. I was thinking of getting TiW because I have used it in the past when we were traveling with a larger group and definitely saw the benefits of having it, but I am not so sure for this year when I have an AP.

I know not on the list but whenever I have asked at Wolfgang Puck Express they gave me the discount.

Will you be there before or after 9/30/17? I saw that the restaurants extending the 20% AP discount this year are doing so through that date, so that looks like a good way to determine whether TiW is worth it for you.

We will be there in August so the AP discount will be in effect.

I think I have honestly only been asked to show my ID once or twice when using TiW this past year that I have had it. I typically pay with Gift Card or MagicBand (maybe they can see my name from the room?). I purchased it before the AP 20% promo and it paid for itself and then some in a one week trip. Somethings like HDDMR are only covered under TiW and not the AP 20%.

I always consult the website, but when in doubt, I ask if it is accepted. What can it hurt?

In that case, sounds like you're set with the AP discount. Perhaps it'd only be worthwhile for you this time around if you planned to go back later within 12 months of this trip.

For us TiW is a must because we're going after the AP discount ends, we're doing a ton of TS/signatures that accept TiW, and we're visiting at least twice in summer of 2018.

I think the breakeven point for AP holders is $750 ($875 for FL residents), so unless you plan to spend at least that much in dining within 12 months after August, it's prob not in your interest to purchase.

We use it a Cooke's of Dublin, 20% off. So, I'm not sure what you said is 100% accurate.

I know it's not apples to apples (ownership, discount type), but I was given a 10% Disney Visa discount at Skipper Canteen when I asked about it. It's not listed/advertised, but it can be had by asking.
