Thanks for an informative show!

Two things that struck me:

1.) People keep talking about temperatures being checked by Disney (and lots of other places). Haven't the experts concluded that you are very contagious well before fever? So how would this help? I think about all the little kids who have always gone to Disney with fevers (perhaps from an ear infection, etc.). I wish there was a breathalizer that each person would need to take to actually prove they don't have this virus. I know, I'm dreaming!

2.) Someone on the show mentioned Disney will become OCD about sanitation. Bleach was mentioned. Yikes. If there is that much bleach that will be used it will give 3/4 of the people in my travel party instant asthma!

Thinking about today's show, the subjects that were discussed like mandatory face masks, etc. are making me feel like I might need to reschedule our vacation (was this month, now late September) once again and just wait it out until their is a vaccine and life is a bit more normal.

1. The interview with Iger mentioned they are looking at several options, temperature checks being one of them which is something being done in other countries including China. Doesn't mean it will happen but Disney has to be very careful when going about reopening the parks. I also think like the team discussed a bit having a fever may not mean automatic "go home" type stuff but rather further screening.

2. I think again Disney will be looking at several sanitation avenues. They of course already have cleaning procedures they use. The health departments require such. I would imagine when cleaning products are used they will be used in manners that are safe for as many people possible.

For me I think it is still too early to know what September will look like with all of this. It is hard to now what next week will look like at times.

Physician here. Yes, checking fevers is a worthless screening tool. Many patients who test postive for COVID-19 don't have a fever. That would simply be "feel good" security, like so much security screening already is.

Bleach is already a very common cleaning agent. The good thing about bleach is that the concentration needed to sanitize things is extremely low. A capful or two in a gallon of water is sufficient. That's not enough to make the place reek with bleach fumes. Odds are the cleaning solutions they already use contain bleach anyway.

Yeah, I agree. We had our March trip cancelled due to closure. Today's discussion has me rethinking scheduling to November and waiting another year or two instead.

When we went in December, we had a few overzealous security guards tear apart my little granddaughter's diaper bag with her snacks/cups/toys/clothing/diapers all being manhandled.

The thought of those dirty gloves handling everyone else's stuff before touching the baby's things did not set well at that time, now I would not be able to tolerate that kind of invasion knowing what we know about covid 19 spread.

A stranger taking my temperature seems pushing the invasiveness a bit too far for the privilege of entering a theme park.

This is a great point. Guards should have to sanitize their hands between each bag search. They'd be better off skipping gloves and using hand sanitizer each time. No matter what, I'd be prepared for super long security lines when the parks reopen.

Heck, maybe they'll institute a clear bag only rule like they have at sporting events. It would really suck and would honestly make me less inclined to go, but it wouldn't shock me.

Something that got me thinking about how Disney is going to reopen would they possibly require a reservation to even enter the park? This way they would know who is coming and from where. Much like a cruise line knows who is coming and have them fill out a health questionnaire (which I’m sure tons of people lie on) but it’d be a start for crowd control and potentially for health screening purposes.

What happened to Pete's dog? I couldn't stop staring at his poor dog in an e collar.

I have a clear backpack for disney parks, and honestly I could never go back. It makes getting through security so fast and no on has to open or touch my things inside. A+ in my opinion.

Hmm yeah I don't see Disney going this restrictive. Sporting games do not require you to bring that much stuff in. Disney World it's almost impossible to do a full park day without a backpack, especially if you have kids.
I agree. I was thinking of how they could handle the concerns about security having to go through everyone's things. One way around it would be to simply not let people bring a lot of stuff in, which is obviously less than idea.

Agreed - but circling back to my original comment, having a clear backpack at Disneyworld, virus or not, is a huge time saver and help. If anyone is concerned about people touching their things and rummaging through your bags, its the way to go. 75% of the time they don't even open the backpack. There is always some security guards that like to be extra careful.

This is the one I have - not ideal for people with little ones, since it's a small to medium sized bag, but I fit a lottt of things in it.
