A few questions...

Hi!

I(35) am going to be staying at POP Century with my mother(51) and sister(32) from August 26th to August 31st. This is DM and DS's first time to Disney. It is my first time staying on property. So, I have a few questions.

1.) I am the planner/coordinator/financer for this trip (the hotel and park tickets only). I know all information will be sent to me and I will need to send the important travel documents to DM and DS. However, my flight arrives in Orlando about 3 1/2 hours before their flight. When I check in, will it automatically check them in, too? Will they need to check in once they arrive or can they come directly to our room - if it's ready?

2.) How much do I need to tip housekeeping, bell service, ME bus drivers, etc? Am I missing anyone? I very rarely ever carry cash with me. I want to make sure I have enough to leave for tips.

3.) Is there wireless internet connection at the hotel? I will be taking my laptop with me - and I'm sure my sister will have hers, too. I doubt I will get on-line often, but it would be nice to have that option in case we need to.

4.) I have not requested a specific area of POP to stay in. Is there one buiding better than another? Is there one you would tell us to steer clear of? Yesterday, I tried to upgrade to preferred lake-view in the 60's, but they were completely full. I told the CM not to worry about it, because I didn't want to mess up our reservation! ;)

Okay - I think that's it for now. TIA for any help!! :flower3:

as long as you aren't going during the free dining period, one person is all it takes. unless you leave the resort IDs for them, you'll have them all, so you just need to arrange to meet them (or have them come directly to the room assuming it's available).

you don't NEED to tip anyone. typically guests may leave $1-$2 per person per day for housekeeping, or $1-$2 per bag for anything bell services may handle, and/or $1-$2 per bag for any bags the DME driver handles. the delivery to your room via DME is handled, so even if you're in your room when DME delivers your luggage if they're handling it, it's covered.

There is broadband via ethernet in every disney resort room. one cable is provided and the cost is $9.95 for a 24 hour period. you can also use a modem and dial-up at $.75 per local call.

Preferred at POP is designated by a radius from classics hall. they can be in the 50s, 60s or 70s. the 70s are closer to the bus stops and everything pop/food court. i've heard the 90s aren't so bad, just a walk across the parking lot.

Thank you very much for your help! We are going during the free dining. So, that means they will need to check in, too, correct? Why is it different for free dining compared to all other times? It doesn't matter to me one way or the other. I just need to make sure I have everthing straight before they arrive. My mother has started calling me "Julie, the Cruise Director"!! :lmao: So, I had better get everything right! ;)

Thank you, again, for your help! :flower3:

well, it's mostly anyone's guess what your case will be during free dining, but the way it's meant to be is that everyone must present themselves to deter less ethical guests from fabricating ghost guests to claim additional credits.

That makes perfect sense! Thank you, again!! :flower3:
