We are going to Disney the end of September this is our 4th time but somehow we have missed out on these things...wondering how they work...

1. Jedi training - my son is 5 years old and is Star Wars Obsessed....someone told me they have this??

2. Pirate for a day?? He also loves Pirates of the Caribbean do they still have this and what is it?

3. We have never gone to the the Not so spooky Halloween at Magic Kingdom I looked and the ticket prices are pricey to pay in addition to how much I have already spent....is it worth it? My children are 7 and 5....what is it like?

Thanks you in advance for your advice and help!! :)

We went to the Halloween party during our last trip two years ago. It was our fourth time to the World, but first for the party. We are pretty budget conscious when we go, and I just couldn't see paying the extra $200 for "some extra time in MK", but on that trip, our travel agent talked me into it and I am so glad she did.

My girls were 4 and 7 at the time. We all absolutely LOVED it. We watched the parade twice because we loved it so much the first time and the fireworks/music are the best I have ever seen.
It is so much more than "extra time in MK" or MK time with shorter lines - in fact, we only rode a handful of rides and that was just before close.

It was well worth the money for us.

1: Yes, they do still have Jedi Training Academy. It's at Hollywood Studios. Get to the park very early, around 8:00. It'll open up around 8:35-8:45 ish. Go to the Jedi Training sign-ups. Make sure you have the child with you, or you will not be able to sign up, and you might not get the time you want. The person taking names will ask the child a few questions to make sure they can listen well, and then give you a slip of paper telling you what time to be there. If you search the boards on similar topics, Robo probably has a map somewhere of where the sign-ups are.

2: Don't know about pirate for a day, but you can sign him up for the Pirate's League.

3: Yes, it might be worth it to do.

1. PP gave some good information about Jedi Training. Go directly there when the gates open and sign up. My DS and middle DD did this and it was a highlight of the trip for them. The show lasts about half an hour and is exciting for the kids and fun to watch. DD was the only girl in the group, so they singled her out a few times as a special female Jedi. I also have a teenage DD who wore a Star Wars shirt and took pictures the whole time. She really enjoyed it, even though she was quite disappointed when I told her before the trip that she was too old to participate.

2. There are two pirate activities that my kids have done:
- Pirates League- in MK, they get a pirate makeover and can participate in a little parade and pirate tutorial in the afternoon. All three of my kids really enjoyed this. Definitely worth the money.
- the pirate adventures at the resorts- (ages 4-12, I believe) kids go on a boat with CMs, do a scavenger hunt, and receive a few pirate items (bandana, sword, "treasure"). My two younger kids did this at POR last year. We did a long trip and had a few non-park days in the middle. Not sure that they would do it again (they definitely wouldn't want to miss park time for it), but it was worth trying once. They had an enjoyable time. One thing that turned me off: DD was overlooked when they passed out the swords. She tried to say something and get their attention, but is too shy to be pushy about it. We watched them coming back into the resort and DS was play swordfighting with the other kids on the boat and DD was sitting in the back by herself. We could tell from the bridge that something was wrong. As soon as they got off the boat to head for the treasure she started crying. I did get a CM to give her a sword and she got over it quickly, but the poor kid missed half the experience being upset. I think the CMs did a good job in general, but I think they should have noticed one child being quiet, upset, and crying for half the trip and made an attempt to include her.

i can only answer about the last one the halloween party

it rocks so worth the money! when we go during September or october its always a must i have brought my girls since before they were one. its also great to dress up i have even dressed up :)

you get to trick or treat through the park and can go back to the stations as much as you want to the rides that are open which is most of them have little to no wait so its a great time to get a bunch of rides done. the parade is great and the fireworks are beautiful!

1) Not sure about the Jedi training

2) In addition to the pirates league and the pirate day trips there is also the pirate and pals fireworks cruise at night with Hook, Smee, and Peter Pan. Never did this but booked it for my upcoming trip.

3) The MNSSHP is totally worth it for us. We would not miss it!

Have a great time and happy planning :)

We went to the Christmas party last time we went and it was SO great. We were back and forth on whether to do the Halloween party because we were trying to keep our expenses lower, BUT because of the excellent time we had at the Christmas party, we decided that we would be really disappointed if we missed it. So, we are going! Can't wait!

Are you talking about the pirate makeover? My son was going to do that on the same day that my daughter did the BBB, but he backed out. We did go over there to cancel our reservation and it looked like a LOT of fun. And as I recall, the cost was not unreasonable for what they get to do.

This will be our third year attending Not So Scary. LOVE IT

Our boys are 5 and 7 now. I have pictures of my youngest dancing with Minnie when he was 2 years old :thumbsup2 We think it is totally worth it and schedule vacation just to go to it.

We do not visit the parks on the day of party. We head over to MK around 4pm. They usually start letting people with tickets for the party in at that time. In reality you get 8 hours at the park if you stay until midnight and the tickets cost less than a single day ticket. Also, you get bags of name brand candy :cool1:

Hope that helps you make a decision. Oh yeah, join the Disney Vacation Club and you can save 5 bucks on the tickets LOL that's not a reason to join DVC.
