I was thinking of doing the Linus project through the Oneida NY chapter, as I think that was one of the places you can mail in the blankets. We live in New York state, so that is a close location.
I haven't signed up through the site yet because I had a few questions, and didn't know if I could ask the lady at the phone # listed for pick up, so I figured someone here must have the answers. :confused3:Here goes.....

1. Gotta sign up through the site first.
2. Does someone contact you or do they send you an e-mail?
3. What if you have multi members of your family to participate, can you send the blankets all together or separate? The same with signing up? Do they give a mailing address in the sign up for mailing back?
4. What size blankets do you need to make? Prints or Solids? For Children or Adults?
5. You get about 60 days to complete, right? And it's 2 blankets per person?

I appreciate any and all info that someone can give me. I just don't want to sign up for something until I am sure I can so it. I do sew , so I probably will go with fleece that I can buy from JoAnne Fabrics. Thank you in advance for the info!:worship::thumbsup2:grouphug:

You can be listed as the lead volunteer for your household and register any other members under your name. I was lead and listed my spouse and daughter. When you select the volunteer opportunity you will receive an email confirming your plans to participate. I immediately responded by email to the coordinator and she sent me her mailing address and answered all my questions. You are able to choose whatever date you want as a completion date and you can change it if needed. We finished our early and I had tracking on the package so I changed it to the date she received them. I sent all six blankets in one box along with a note containing all of our names, address, email and phone number. I bought the kits from Jo-Anns that were 36 x 48 I believe. I had read on another chapter's website that double layer ones can sometimes be too hot so I made single layer ones. Each kit came with a solid and a print. We made solid fringe for the print fabric and vice versa. The coordinator said they were great and credited our account about 2 days after she received them and I had the actual vouchers in less than a week. I will say the coordinator for this chapter is great. She answered every question I had. I have heard of other chapters being innundated and having lots of issues. Blankets arriving with no names. Names, but of people who are not in the system. The best is to just ask questions if you are unsure on anything.

Not sure if this chapter has specific requirements (single layer, double layer, size...), but just make sure to confirm with them before you start.

You have to sign up on the WDW site first. The PL Chapter will then contact you and give you more instructions. We were told to pick a date close to the time that we figured we'd have the blankets completed and mailed to them. I wasn't told how many blankets per person but plan on doing two per person. We then went to Wal-mart and bought some fabric, nothing too babyish and nothing too gender specific but more geared towards kids than adults. My kids picked out some really cute Mickey Mouse fleece that they are excited to make into a blanket. We are making single layer blankets that start off as a 48"x60" rectangle. On the PL site there are instructions that are super easy to follow. HTH

PL is Project Linus.

Also note that some have not been able to change their dates once they entered them. I was able to do so but others have said that they were not. So as a PP mentioned, try to pick a date that you know will work for you and will allow you to get your vouchers in time for your trip.

I know OP was asking about a specific PL chapter, but in case others are popping into this thread - just a reminder that each individual chapter has different requirements for blankets including, how many per person, what kind (at least one has stated they will not accept the no-sew fleece blankets), size, and whether you must deliver them in person or can mail OR have to actually attend an event on a particular day to make your blankets.

Please be sure to confirm the requirments of the chapter you are volunteering with before you get started. :flower3:
