Well, have decided to do the golf cart rental for the week we are there. Where are all the places you can go on one?
Trails, interesting loops, etc.?

Any tips for fun things to do with a toddler (20 months and running) at the resort?

You're only allowed to use the golf carts on the roads, camping/cabin loops, and areas around the Marina/Trading Post as marked. Mind you, that covers a LOT of ground!

No trails, unfortunately (and DH is still bummed he can't go "off roading" on the beach)

"Interesting loops" totally depends on what time of year you're going. If it's during Halloween or the holiday season - decorations make it well worth it to take a daily looping trip.

Have fun!:thumbsup2

I wish they would let us drive our carts to the lodge. It would be a nice cruise and I would think they would get more buisness from the fort.

Start a petition I will sign it.

If I thought it would work I would start one. I would love to drive over for breakfast but disney transportation would take to long and cut into my park time.

Me too! :thumbsup2

We love going over to Roaring Forks for their ginormous sandwiches and eating by the pool. We'd go much more often if we could buzz over on the cart.:moped:

I October we got on the bus to go over to the Lodge and the bus driver told us we coulda drove our cart over. He said you go on the path ( I believe he ment the walking path) and drive right over, he said people do it all the time and park in the back. I never got a chance to check it out to see if there was a parking area because my cart would never make it on the batteries and if there was no plug in I'd be in trouble. Its just what he told me so don't flame me if its not totally true, maybe someone could check it out.

There are multiple signs on the path saying "No Carts beyond this Point", so, no, he was speaking experientially not authoritatively (which is to say, he's SEEN plenty of people do it, they just aren't SUPPOSED to!). The path is for walking/jogging/biking only. It is a very nice bike ride, though.

When I first began to visit the Fort, you were allowed to drive your golf cart to Wilderness Lodge. There is a paved loop at the end of the path where you were allowed to park your carts, and walk to the Lodge. The problem was that there were no electric outlets provided there, and the Bike Barn folks often had to go all the way out there to retrieve dead carts. Also, folks got into mischief on the path between the Fort and WL, so the no cart signs went up several years ago.

Despite the fact that golf carts have been banned from this path for years, just this past year, I heard a castmember in the Settlement Trading Post tell a camper that he could drive his cart to the Lodge. Bus drivers, and other castmembers work all over the WDW property these days, and most of them are not great sources for accurate information.
