I haven't been to HDDR in about 10 years, and we are considering it for our upcoming November trip but DH is a little hesitant. We'd be attending on one of our rest days with our group being me, DH, and our DS who will be about 13 months old. Has anyone ever taken a child that age to the show? Did they enjoy it, or would be it a waste of money?

About the food...DH is unfortunately a VERY picky eater. I am too, but I enjoy pretty much everything they serve for dinner. Would they do substitutions for an adult? If so, is that something we would just request when we get there since it is not for a dietary allergy or restriction?

As for the seating, I know it goes by categories, but how does the individual seating work within a category? Is it an assigned table or do you get a choice within your category once you get there? Can you make a request? For example, if we chose Cat 2, could we request balcony vs floor?

Any help would be appreciated!

We went in '08. You are assigned a table. We had the top category and were seated dead center up against the stage (DH and I). Our table actually was touching the stage. When we walked in, they took us to our seat that was preassigned. I don't know if you can request balcony ahead of time or not. I think food substitutions need to be requested ahead of time since it's a fixed menu, but honestly I don't know what they'd substitute. I'm not sure what there is to be picky about. It's chicken, ribs, beans, corn, salad, bread, pretty basic foods.

He doesn't eat beans, corn on the cob, ribs, or mashed potatoes, and he doesn't want to spend all that money just on chicken & bread. Thanks for the info on seating though.
