Hello and this is my first post on the Universal boards and I'm planing on staying for two days on site in August at the tail end of my vacation. I have a few questions and I'm leaning toward the Royal Pacific due to the fact that my wife and I love Hawaiian theming and we always stay at the Polynesian when were at WDW.

I'm not to keen on the room size though and would like a little bigger but still stay on some type of budget. Is the club level rooms bigger and is it worth the price? I'm not looking for a suite or anything but 355 sq feet seems a little small. I can get a bigger room at the PBH and with AAA and doesn't seem to much more for what I'm getting. Any thoughts on this?

My last question is when I go to the Loews website they ask me how many adults are in the room and there's no check mark for kids. It will be my wife and I, plus two 8 year old boys (twins). When I check off the 4 adult option (the only thing they have) it raises the price up. Wouldn't kids be free if two adults are in the room already? Should I just go ahead and book 4 adults in the room and be done with it or just check the 2 adult option? I do have AAA and it does seem to lower the price. Any help on this would be great. Thanks!

You will love RPR. No, the club rooms are not any bigger, but they do have some great benefits - I highly recommed club if you can afford it.

The kids are free. Book for two adults, and then call to add the kids to your reservation.

Here's another opinion. :p Since you're staying at the Poly, why not stay at PBH at Universal. That way you are instantly transported to 2 totally different parts of the world & you won't be spending your entire stay comparing the 2 resorts. Plus, we've stayed at all 3 resorts & think PBH is definitely the nicest of the 3. :teeth: RPR is our least favorite. Just something to think about. :scratchin

You have made a interesting point and it has me thinking. I will be at the Polynesian for 7 nights and that might be enough of the Hawaiian theme for one vacation. I don't want to be comparing RPR to the Poly on the last days of our vacation and I want to give Universal a fair shot. This is our first time going to Universal and I'm kind of looking forward to it. I think I might try HRH or PBH and shake things up a little on this trip. Thanks for the tip! :thumbsup2

I just got done a few minutes ago with booking a pool view room at the HRH and my wife and I looked at all three resorts and picked this one. I almost booked a room at PBH but the HRH seemed to be more fun looking and it will be a change from staying at the Polynesian for 7 nights. I feel pretty good about this right now and I think my family will be happy there, but we shall see. I looked at the reviews on line and most of them seem postive except for a few of them. If the room is clean and comfortable and if the pool is as good as it looks, then we should be set. Wish us luck and thanks for the help. :thumbsup2

I think you'll be happy with your decision. :) We're staying at HRH in July. As I mentioned my DH & I prefer PBH, but our DS(14) is a huge HRH fan. Guess who won, when picking the hotel. :p Your kids will love HRH. It's definitely the happenin' place to be. :cool1: The best part about this hotel is that the parks & Citywalk are an easy walk. We're talking 10 minutes max. walking to Universal Studios. Add 2 or 3 more minutes & you're at IOA. :woohoo: The pool's great! :teeth:

Thank you for the ideas and I'm glad I took your advice. I would have been comparing the RPH to the Poly and that's no way to have a good time. This way the Universal part of my trip will have a clean slate to work with and I can have a open mind.

I think it a great idea to stay at HRH so as not to compare your very first trip. However, do take a stroll in your suits over to the RPR to see it. The boys will love the water play area there. And unlike Disney, Universal encourages pool hopping.

We are huge South Pacific fans and always stay in the Hawaii building at the Poly when we go to Disney. However, we love the RPR too. Different feel, but still South Pacific. Lately though, we have fallen in love with the PBH.

In other words - you can't lose at Universal with their resorts :)
