Hi,

Could anyone please have a stab at these questions:-

1) DS will turn three during our visit. Any suggestions for a magical day - should I let Disney know? I'm very intimidated by this kind of thing - but I want to make it very special. I thought about downtown disney in the moring - visit the big disney store, banana splits are the ice cream place and then MK for afternoon and tea at Chef Mickeys - thought i'd order a cake - anyone know what they are like?????

2) How does the cruise thing work out - is there one that you go and watch fireworks on? How do you book? How many other people on boat etc.?

3) Are children ok in Narcooosies ???

4) When you fax special requests to hotel, do they actually look at them or do you just end up asking on check-in anyway!!!???

5) DOes anyone know about refurb in GF - when were rooms last updated etc?

Thanks.,!!!!!!!

I can do some of 1) as we were at Disney for DD's 2nd birthday

Collect a birthday badge from Guest Services in the park (Town Hall on left in MK). Many cast members stopped to say 'Happy Birthday' when she wore it.

Do tell Disney - we arrived back in the room to find a card from Minnie (I think!) with a signed photo in and a couple of helium balloons tied to it.

A character meal is also a great idea. I didn't mention the occasion there but I think you get a cupcake with a candle for the Birthday Girl

1) DS will turn three during our visit. Any suggestions for a magical day - should I let Disney know? If you're staying onsite, then it's probably worth asking Concierge if they have any suggestions. You might even get your room decorated. You could also book a wake-up call from Mickey, or Goofy's birthday message, if that's something your son hasn't experienced before - easy to do from your room phone. I'm very intimidated by this kind of thing - but I want to make it very special. I thought about downtown disney in the moring - visit the big disney store, banana splits are the ice cream place and then MK for afternoon Don't forget to stop off at City Hall and ask for a birthday button (badge to us :teeth: )- all the Cast Members will then make a big fuss of your son as you tour the park. You could also get him an autograph book to collect character signatures - apparently some of them will add birthday messages if they spot the button. and tea at Chef Mickeys Make sure you let the restaurant know it's his birthday (you can tell them when you arrive and, of course, he will still be wearing his birthday button). The characters will sing "Happy Birthday" to him and give him a signed card. - thought i'd order a cake - anyone know what they are like????? They cost $16 plus tax and have to be paid for when you you order. You can get your hotel Concierge to sort it out. I'd suggest doing it a good few days in advance. We ordered one last October a couple of days before our ADR at 'Ohana and, when we arrived at the restaurant, they didn't know anything about it. They did manage to sort it out for us, though. The choices are: chocolate or white cake; chocolate mousse or vanilla filling; chocolate or vanilla buttercream frosting; and birthday Mickey or birthday Minnie on the top of the cake. I think you can probably have other characters, too. Ours was an adult version and I think may have been a bit larger than the kids ones:

2) How does the cruise thing work out - is there one that you go and watch fireworks on? How do you book? How many other people on boat etc.? Here is the link to all the info.

3) Are children ok in Narcooosies ??? Yes - absolutely not a problem. Time your ADR to co-incide with Wishes and, either get a window table, or step outside onto the verandah to watch.

4) When you fax special requests to hotel, do they actually look at them or do you just end up asking on check-in anyway!!!??? My understanding is that you should make any special requests at the time of booking. A room assigner deals with any requests (and they're just that - no guarantees) a few days before you check-in. Faxes don't give you any better chance of having your requests met and it's reported that some resorts have even stopped looking at them - they get inundated. The check-in staff don't allocate your room as it's already been done and they can only move you to accommodate any requests if there happens to be something available at the time you check in.

5) DOes anyone know about refurb in GF - when were rooms last updated etc? I'm not sure. I haven't heard of any recent refurbishment. As far as I know, the Poly and the Contemporary were the most recent to undergo room refurbs. Try posting on the Resorts forum.

We mentioned in passing to our server at Boma in AKL that it was one of our friends birthday and he got a big birthday cake brought out.

Just catching up with last week's All Ears newsletter and I discover that GF is undergoing rooms renovations now! Link to pictures.
