A few packing questions

I am just thinking about things I need to pack for the kids and my list just keeps getting longer and longer.

Do you pack your own swim towels? We are staying at WL, will they have them?

Pillows? My kids pillows are very flat, most hotel pillows are fluffy.

Toys? I'm talking little ones, like a few Barbies.

Nebulizer? My daughter only needs it when her inhalers don't work and that's usually because she is sick. We have brought it on every trip and never needed it.

The WL (and all the Deluxe hotels) have pool towels by the pool for your use. When my kiddos were smaller, I didn't bring a lot of toys. We spent most of our time at the parks or the pool, the room was primarily used for sleeping. Pillows at the WL weren't really flat, but they weren't extremely fluffy, either.

If your flying and have room in the luggage, I would take the pillows. There is nothing like sleeping on your own pillow -- especially if the kids are over tired.

As for the toys, I always packed small things, but what I love most is a pack of ballons. They cost almost nothing and don't take up any room. You can get hours out of them, even up to teenagers.

We had 5 kids on a rainy day, sitting on the couches and chairs, trying to pass the ballon without letting it fall on the ground.

I also bought a Balzac balloon ball on one of my first Disney trips. Just blow up the ballon and you have fun at the pool, outside (and if you're careful), inside too because the ball is so lightweight).

I also take cards. There are some great card games you can find at Barnes and Nobels. They range from small kids to big kids.

I always take the nebulizer too, my daughter has never used it but I don't want there to be a trip that she does and I didn't bring it! When she gets older, I can switch to the emergency inhaler, which will be nice since it's so much smaller!

I bought mini backpacks for my kids. I put frozen juice box/small water bottle/sippy cup, frozen go-gurt, and small baggie with trail mix. This kept my kids busy in the long lines and lightened my load. I also put their autograph books in there. If your 4 yr old is into it, we also put disposable cameras in the pack too. When they decided they didn't want to carry it any more it was usually empty and fit into my backpack. Ponchos are important. You can buy them in the park and pay a high price for something you can buy at the dollar store at home. The only difference is you won't have Mickey on yours. :confused3 I'm okay with that.

I find that keeping the suitcases open and using lists helps a lot. My kids would just roll up an extra blanket instead of using the pillows. They also do not like fluffy pillows. This saved room for us, we would ask for extra "fuzzy" blanket from Mousekeeping.

I am a fairly light packer at the best of times but I also believe that teaching children to adapt to the situation around them puts them in good stead for their adult life.

I would therefore say leave the pillows at home - if they are too high children are excellent at sleeping without them. Leave the towels at home - all hotels have pool towels and limit the toys - 1 barbie for each child with no shoes or handbags etc (who wants to be trying to find those little pieces on holiday). I like the balloon suggestion - have done that one myself. As for the nebuliser - do whatever you feel comfortable with.
