Hi ... just wondering/planning/dreaming (we waiting ROFR now)
here's my question(s) ...

In DVC, what is a week?
is it 6nites/7days or 7 nites/8 days?

are the week rates only valid sat to sat or sun to sun or could you do mon to mon, tues to tues, etc...?

what happens if you check in for a week and the season changes?
for example studio at OLW
check in sat 2/12/05 (dream season)
check out sat 2/20/05 (magic season)
it bumps from dream to magic on wed 2/16/5

it the dream week rate of 98 still valid or do they figure it day by day? i know that the resorts bill you by season from the day you check in .. does dvc follow the same rule?

also is there any way to do a silver or gold plan if you are using your dvc points?

thanks

The points are by night. I think the weekly rate is an example, so if the season changes your points rate changes as well.

But, yes, you can stay Mon-Mon, or whatever. A week is 7 nights.

Yes you can buy the meal plans, but I dont think they are a good value.

In DVC, a week is always by the number of nights. and even though, you see the "week rates" it is still figured out on a per night basis.
You can book your stay however you wish as long as you have points available and there is room available. If you want to stay mon-mon, you can do that. if you want to stay only one night, you can do that too. For my October trip, I am staying in a studio at OKW on Wed & Thur. night, then moving out Fri & Sat. night to save points, and then staying in a studio at OKW again Sun - Thur. night.

Since the points are done on a daily basis, you are "Charged" the points for whatever season that night is in. It's not like CRO where your "rate" is based on what day you checked in.

I can not answer about the silver & gold plans.

HTH!

Did something change recently? Dining package plans, to my knowledge, are not available to folks staying on points. And even so, they are not the best deal out there, unless you take full advantage of them at every meal, nothing against big eaters, I can pack it away myself, but even so, a dining plan would not be cost effective for me, since I usually eat a large full service meal for lunch and a lighter dinner.

Just to be very clear on this for the OP: At DVC, you don't get the same week every year, nor do you have to reserve in one-week blocks of time. You buy in to DVC for a specific number of point, and every year you get that number of points to "spend". You then reserve the nights you desire; if you wanted to, you could stay at a DVC resort every third Tuesday night until you ran out of points.

I did not know that you can buy a meal plan, has anyone done this and how expensive is it? Thanks.

Meal plans are not available to anyone who is staying on points.
