A few dining and resort questions

If I book a trip, and free dining or room discount is offered later, can I cancel and rebook without penalty? Do prices change frequently? (yes, I know the debate about whether room discount or free dining is better, and I don't want to start that debate. Thanks )

I know I can only book dining reservations 180 days out, and probably should. So if I make reservations 180 days out, and then later decide to go with a free dining plan that includes table service, will that affect my reservation?

We're still a little over a year out, so we still have plenty of time, but I'm also starting to REALLY start planning our trip. So exciting!

1, Yes, if you book a package you can change it to reflect the promotion - IF the promotion is available at the resort you want, on the dates you want.

If you book a room only reservation, you will need to cancel it and book a package with tickets to get the free dining.

2. Adding dining later will NOT affect your restaurant reservations unless you booked one of the prepaid meals (CRT or a dinner show). You might be able to call WDW-DINE and get it switched over to dining plan and get refunded right then, but that doesn't always work. You may have to wait to get refunded until you arrive at CRT or pick up your dinner show tickets.
