I'm still wrestling over a few decisions, I wonder if you all could offer your opinions. We're going in Feb and staying at Poly, DD is 13 and DS is 11 with regular dining plan. The last few decisions we have to make are:

'Ohana for breakfast or dinner? Basically this comes down to pancakes with characters or shrimp and banana bread pudding.

Luau (been before, but with lousy seats) or Hoop-Dee-Do (apparantly I saw the show when I was six in 1972, but don't remember it at all)

Chef Mickey's for breakfast (never been)? Or 'Ohana for breakfast and dinner?

What does everyone think?:confused3

I know I'll be happy with whichever :), just looking for input.

The bread pudding is really good!

I haven't been to Ohana for Breakfast so I can't say about that.

I liked the dinner myself at Ohana, and I like the Chef Mickey breakfast well enough, but am only booking it for my trip because Crystal Palace will be refurbing.

I wish I could help I am still wrestling with all of my ADRS. Finally got my husbands input on some things so that is a plus:rotfl:.

I would do Ohana for dinner and Chef Mickey's for breakfast

I have done both the Luau and HDDR and HDDR is my favorite - better show and food.

Hoop dee doo and O'Hana for bf AND dinner:thumbsup2

DS 11 and I did Ohana for dinner and Chef Mickey's for breakfast on our last trip. These were 2 of his favorites after Boma. This is part of our normal dining routine when at WDW. I've never tried it the other way around so I can't offer any pros or cons.

Thanks for your input. I'm pretty sure we'll do HDD instead of Luau, still undecided on breakfasts. Any more input?

If pancakes are important, go with Chef Mickey's. Pancakes were not served at Ohana's for breakfast the last time we were there and they are not listed on the menu at Allears.net.

O'hana's for dinner, Chef Mickey's for breakfast and HDD!!!

Okay, I will be the lone dissenter. I think 'Ohana for breakfast is wonerful! The food was good and the character interaction was awesome :thumbsup2. I find 'Ohana for dinner to be WAY too noisy and chaotic.

Good luck.

I've done Ohana for breakfast and really liked it. Haven't done it for dinner or Chef Mickey's for either so I can't compare.
My only problem with Ohana was waiting for our time to come up and some teenagers hogging all of the seats in the waiting area. I can stand, but there were some other people who look like they could have used a seat. I'll stop my thread-jacking about horrible cheerleaders. LOL

I completely agree! And it's not a bad trip to Contemporary or Fort Wilderness if that's what has you tempted to stick to mostly Poly. Of course, the option you left out which is one of my faves is Kona for breakfast. Mmmm, Tonga Toast!

Ohana Breakfast is now our "must do" for our last day - like a PP stated, the waiting area gets clogged - they wait until an entire "section" is empty before calling the new group of diners to come sit down - but I think it allows the characters to intereact much better in that section - they just seem to have fun - and their fun is infectious!!

We dont do Chef Mickey's anymore - just not a positive for us - you'll get plenty of responses for both loving and not liking Chef Mickey's - so that one seems to be personal - if you enjoy the chaotic buffets, or the food (pancakes) is a must do - etc..

I have to add if you are staying at the Polynesian, I love being able to eat in the restaurants at the Polynesian - so I would do Ohana for both dinner and breakfast - they are both very different experiences imho -

but I have to agree with the assesments of the Luau vs HDD!! (altho with the new tiered system you may want to upgrade the HDDR tier)
