It's my own fault, I know. I read the snake in resort room thread at midnight, my bad. But, despite my knowledge of my stupidity and overreaction, I had a few questions about BLT, mostly for those who've stayed there.
1. Has anyone had any issues with critters/snakes?
2. Any specific (studio) room recommendations?
3. Did you enjoy it?
4. Was it worth the points?
5. Is it a long walk to the monorail?

Thanks!

1.... No but it IS Florida, critters come with the territory & are not Disney's fault.

2.... Not really. We have stayed in standard & lake view, studio & 1 BR and have always been happy. Personally I don't think the MK view is worth the points. We used to stay CR Tower-MK view often so maybe I'm sort of "been there, done that". If you've never done it, you have to do it at least once but after that, only you can decide for yourself.

4.... yes

5.... Define far? To us, nothing at BLT is a far walk, especially when compared to other resorts.

I've stayed there twice. I've stayed in the 1 BR & 2 BR suites. Some of our party stayed in a studio.

  • Never had any problems with critters or snakes. But I'm sure there's a good reason you can't swim in Bay Lake
  • The walk to the monorail isn't far and most of it is indoors.
  • The rooms have a very modern look & feel.
  • If you can, upgrade to a MK view. There's a lot to be said for being able to sip a drink or enjoy ice scream on the balcony while watching the fireworks.

If you have younger kids and/or are spending lots of time at the Magic Kingdom, then I highly recommend BLT. You can walk back & forth and you'll be grateful when you aren't having to combat the tens of thousands of people for a monorail seat, bus seat, or ferry spot when the park closes. Plus, it's great to have such a nearby spot to take a break midday before returning for evening events.

The only drawback was lack of dining options at BLT. But the Contemporary has plenty.

The studio is really small, not really suitable for more than two adults or two adults and one small child.

We've stayed there 3 times now, and is officially (at this point) my favorite resort:

-no issues with critters. (knock on wood..)
-the one time we had a studio, it was standard view. We looked out over by the Contemporary tower. Another time we had standard view, it was in a 2br, and we looked out at the Monorail and could see the Castle in the distance. :)
-Did we enjoy it? OMG YES!!!! As I mentioned, it's my favorite resort. You can't beat the views, the convenience to MK, the access to the Grand Canyon Councourse at the Contemporary, and the Top of the World Lounge.
-worth the points? Well, without a doubt, the points are expensive. We would obviously like to always stay there on SV points, but it's not always possible. The time we stayed on LV points, I still think it was worth it.
-the transportation is very close, in my opinion. Both the Monorail and the bus stop is only a 5 minute walk from Bay Lake Tower.

Enjoy!!!

Absolutely agree. The first time we stayed in a studio was a quick weekend getaway for DH & I. We were shocked at the size.

BLT studios are great for a couple but with kids I would opt for a CR Tower room instead.
