Hey everyone,

Just a few quick questions about the ADR.

1st, what is this 180 + 10 days I keep reading about. I've already booked my January trip does this mean I can book ADR's quicker than 180 days out?

2nd, Do you have to pre-pay for ADR's or does your credit card hold the ressie for you. Does it vary from place to place?

Lastly, If I have made ressie's (havent made up my mind on DDP yet) and then switch over to the Dining Plan are there extra steps I have to take to ensure Im not charged for the meals?

Thanks in advance!

180 +10 means that you can begin to make adrs 180 days from the first day of your stay and for 10 days after that(instead of calling day by day).

They will ask if you are on DDP and there are some situations where a cc is required(eating at castle for one), but only a few. I have made adrs and then added DDP later and there is no problem.

If you are staying onsite at a resort. At 180 days out you can book your ADR's by logging in with your reservation #. You can then also book after logging in your ADR's for the following 10 days of your trip. This is where the 180 + 10 days comes in.

2nd, Do you have to pre-pay for ADR's or does your credit card hold the ressie for you. Does it vary from place to place?

You don't prepay for the ADR's. They are just resevations for your time to eat there. If you change your mind...you cancel. However, CRT & a few others...like the dining shows will be charged to your credit card when you book if you aren't on the dining plan. By booking on the dining plan it isn't charged but if you change your mind & don't cancel & are a no-show you will get charged.

Lastly, If I have made ressie's (havent made up my mind on DDP yet) and then switch over to the Dining Plan are there extra steps I have to take to ensure Im not charged for the meals?

I don't think so. I guess if you had booked CRT or a dining show you could tell them when you booked the dining plan & they could link the ADR to your dining plan then. Thanks in advance!
Stay Classy:)

Hope this helps.

Expanding on what's already been answered...

#1 - Guests with a confirmed Disney Resort reservation may book dining reservations for up to 10 days worth of dining up to 180 days before date of check-in[/g]. Guests without Disney Resort reservations may book dining reservations up to 180 days before date of dining.

#2 - CRT, HDDR, SoA, and Mickey's BBQ are the only common prepaid events you'll need to worry about (I think V&A is as well, but not entirely sure). If on an eligible plan (so, not QSDP) at time of booking, this should only then be credit card holds. CG and Akershus both require CC holds as well (and I think a couple others, F!? Maybe?). If you don't show up and/or cancel after the deadline, a smaller fee will be charged to the CC on file. Note that this includes partial parties as well, if you reserve for 4 and only 3 show up, there is a chance you could be charged this fee for the 4th person (this applies to the above prepaid meals on DDP as well!)

#3 - There has been some minor success in changing the reservation from a prepay to a hold by calling and speaking with a CM, this can be risky though as most (not all, but most) of the time they simply cancel and rebook. You'd also want to pay close attention to show and seating requirements tied to the dinner shows on DDP. The easiest way is to simply let them know at time of dining, or when you pick up your tickets (again, paying attention to the seating requirements beforehand). And they'll credit the card back at that time.
