So a girl can dream of getting a little pixie dust for the royal suite, am I crazy to think that it has happened to someone before? I would love to hear if you have received any pixie dust before, especially if it was for the ROYAL SUITE! but any pixie dust stories are always fun to hear!

The disboards are such a fun way to make the time go by until VACATION!

We have at WDW twice, once we got a backstage tour of how high profile guests are escorted through the parks and how they access the rides (we skipped the lines at Soarin' and Test Track) it was pretty cool and something I had no idea even happened I just though they would walk around like we do and I really still have no idea what caused the CM to do this for us but it is something I will always remember and cherish. And the second time we were randomly given a handful of fast passes (you know the ones you get if a ride gets shut down while you are on it- we have had that happen on tower of terror and got a small backstage tour and 3 free fast passes)

In general, most reports of pixie dust aren't very specific. One reason - there are people who will take that pixie dust moment, and then try to get it for themselves by telling the CMs onboard "well, my friend got (whatever)free , so I want it too".

Yes, there are people like that.

If you're booked in a "lower" Concierge room, it's possible (but unlikely) you could be pixie-dusted into the Royal Suite.

If you're booked into a Category 4 or Veranda guarantee room, it is possible (but unlikely) you could be pixie-dusted into a Concierge room, and even less likely it would be the Royal Suite.

Several years ago, my family upgraded from the Category 5 room to a Category 4 Guarantee a month before our cruise, and when we got our room assignment discovered it was a 1-bedroom suite. This was before Category V (Concierge Family) existed, though, and it would be less likely now to be placed unexpectedly in a suite. In the unlikely event that a concierge suite becomes available (because most suites sell out months in advance), Disney Cruise would rather let people pay to upgrade in advance or at the port.

As PrincessShmoo implied, the beauty of pixie dust is that it is magically and surprising. If it happens to you, that's wonderful. If it doesn't, then you can have a wonderful trip anyhow.

I would love to one day stay in the Royal Suite. I would have loved if they had upgraded us for our honeymoon, we had booked the next lower level One-bedroom Suite and the Royal Suite was available for a while, but no lol. I've gotten some pixie dust at Disney World, but never on the cruises.

I never thought of that but you are right and probably a good idea to keep specifics out of it then just so the magic stays alive!

Yeah. I consider getting off the waitlist for early dining to be "pixie dust" and that happened to us on the last cruise. Hoping again for a repeat of that for the next one!

We did get some pixie dust last year at Beach Club at WDW. We booked a normal room for a couple nights before the cruise, and we were upgraded to club level for seemingly no reason, which was nice. We wouldn't ever expect that to happen again though.

Once for our cruise in 2003, we were upgraded from a cabin for 4 to one that slept 5, I don't remember what the categories were way back then, I believe they were different from today.

I wouldnt say we have had pixie dust per se but definitely were lucky once when we were able to upgrade from a cat T to the Roy suite for a very affordable amount on the Wonder one cruise and it was amazing but for 3 of us, it was way to much room. Being able to eat Palo at your dining room table and chocolate souffles while watching Sleeping Beauty on the couch with our 4 yr old DD was worth the price. She loved every minute of the big room and she had her own bedroom and bathroom.

I dont expect we will ever do it again but it was a fun experience to have done once.

Given that most of the time the ships are at capacity, pixie dust upgrades are pretty rare.
Our last 3 cruises the ships were 400-500 people short. They seemed empty. Guess it depends on when you go.

For our OGT room last April we got room 6014 on the Fantasy - I considered that pixie dust. We loved it so much we booked 5020 a year later.

If you're in a 1-bedroom or higher category, can you order in Palo dinner in the stateroom for your child as well as yourself?

Only the big suites can have Palo. If you’re in the one bedroom you can order from the MDR
I see. Bummer as that's the one thing that might have gotten me to shell out for a one-bedroom sometime. I like Palo, but as I typically cruise with only my teenage son, I have to eat there alone. Sharing a Palo meal in the stateroom with my son would be awesome, but I’m not going to pay "big suite" prices for the privilege.

Never mind pixie dust, I’d prefer some angel dust. That would be a really “magical” trip
