My 13yr. old daughter has decided that on our trip in Oct, her "big" purchase will be a doll. She is a doll collector and is already saving for the "perfect" one. So...has anyone bought one of the Engel Puppen design it yourself ones? Any opinions? How much were they? She saw them on our last trip, but they weren't in her price range. Any other suggestions? Is there a Small World doll? I didn't know if this was the right forum to post to, but I couldn't find one that matched any better, and I figured families would know dolls/toys and deals best.

Thanks so much.

Jennie (and Abbie)

I got one of the dolls last June (I am a doll collector too :) ) and designed it to look like my daughter. The doll was $65 and I got one of the special Disney dresses (Tinkerbell) and it was also $65. I think the regular dresses are $15-20 cheaper. I plan on getting a different one each time we go - same face and so forth - different Disney dress.

I do not know of a Small World doll - though I think I have seen beanies of some of the countries, but they were at the Disney Store and I don't remember seeing them at WDW.

One collection that I know of that is only sold at the parks is the Villians series (I think they are still available) and they are about $35 each. They are Cruella, Jafar, the Witch from Snow White, Malificent and Capt. Hook.

You may want to try posting this question over on the general collectors board. There me be some other doll collectors over there who can give you some more info :)

They are the Engel Puppen dolls that you can buy at the toy store in Germany at Epcot. They have about 8-10 different face styles that you can choose from. Then you also pick the eye color and hair style and color. You can watch them build the doll right there while you wait - it is all done by hand - sewing, gluing, dressing, styling etc. Then you can also choose the outfit, which, as I said there are the "regular" outfits or you can pay the extra$ and get one of the Disney dresses which look like the dresses of many of the female characters - Cinderella, Belle, Minnie, Tinkerbell, Mulan, etc. You can also buy the dresses seperate. I believe they are the same size doll as the American Girl and My Twin dolls.

I will try to take a picture of mine and post it later.

Last week I saw really cute "my Disney girl?" dolls at the World of Disney at DD. They were only $40, and you could also buy the princess costumes seperately for about $20. I would love to have one of these for our 8 m. DD! If my DH wasn't with me, I would have bought it then! :D

The doll is gorgeous! Thanks for posting the picture!
:D

Can the Engel Puppen dolls be played with or are they strictly for show? $65 is cheaper than American Girls!

Do they have soft bodies?

The doll could definately be played with - if you wanted. Though, mine hasn't been out of the box since it was made :) It does have a soft body.

Does anyone know how these really compare to My Twin dolls? Th eMy Twin allows you to pick so many features. We are looking at getting a doll and if these compare to the same quality as My Twin, I would much rather get it in Disney.
