**A Disney Salute! June 2011 Military Discount/Anniversary PTR!** Update 6/23 Pg 12

I love the new purchases - it must be soo exciting shopping for things you can wear during the warm weather instead of having to worry about gloves and coats to keep you warm! :rotfl:

The Nike flip flops look very comfy and I love the floral pattern on the dress :thumbsup2

:welcome: I am so glad you are enjoying my TR! That is so cool that you were there in December and going back this summer too!

What branch of the military is your DBF? I love meeting other military couples!

Thank you! I am really happy with our decision! :)

Sci Fi's atmosphere is so great! :goodvibes

DF is in the Air Force. We stayed at SoG in December, and it was really fun meeting a bunch of other military couples on the bus rides, so I agree with you that it's nice to meet others.

Your dress is adorable!!! and it's perfect for your first arrival night at Disney. Just something a little nice to wear to DTD. And that shade of purple on the bathing suit does look good.
Nice choices! :thumbsup2

I love that sundress! I am a bit of a compulsive shopper as well, I got 3 new pairs of flip flops last spring for pretty much the same reason, I think I own flip flops in every color now...

I want a pair of those Nike Flip Flops, they look soooo comfy! I saw them at a store I was at a few weeks ago, but they only had black, and I wanted a colored pair! I love my Teva mush flip flops too! :cool1: And all of your Old Navy clothes are so cute! :)

I really want to try a pair of those Mush sandals one day. Old Navy has some really cute dresses right now, even in the plus size, but I have no money :lmao: I wish I could do trip shopping!

Love your purchases! Your flip flops look so comfy. I really like your Nike ones. Old Navy has such cute clothes, I am going to check out their site!

Nice update!! I have the same khaki shorts from ON but didn't know if they were too long for me or not?! I tried on the other shorts but liked the Terry Cloth ones better :) I love Nike Flip Flops but those are fancy ones :)

Thank you! I love the shorts from Old Navy. I usually wear the 5" shorts. They are pretty long, but I prefer them. Actually, the flip flops I got were pretty affordable! I found them on Ebay, so they were discounted!

Thank you! I love shopping for warm weather stuff! It's so much more fun than buying layers!

Thanks! The flip flops are really comfortable, and the dress is too!

We have always wanted to stay at SoG but we can never get reservations! It seems like it is always full.

Thank you! I am excited to wear the dress to DTD. It is so summery! I like the bathing suit because it is a two piece but it still has quite a bit of coverage so I won't feel like I'm too exposed!

Thank you! I am the same way, especially with flip flops! I think I have about 50 pairs of those cheap Old Navy flip flops in every color under the sun!

They are really comfy! I would recommend buying them a size up though, they seem to run kind of small. I am really excited about the Teva flip flops. I have been wanting a pair for a long time!

The Mush sandals are amazing! So comfortable! They sell them in 2 packs now which is a really great deal and you get two patterns! Old Navy has the best summer dresses every year! I hope you can get some on sale!

Love the new purchases!!! The sundress especially is gorgeous!!! :goodvibes

Thank you! I can't wait to wear it!

Great purchases! :thumbsup2

I have that bathing suit in blue! It's so cute! :)

Thank you!

I love the bathing suit. All of the colors are so pretty. I almost got the blue one!

Thank you! They are very comfy! I always love to wear Old Navy clothes. They are very affordable and I think they are made to last.

All cute purchases. I love my Teva sandals. I think you'll enjoy them too.

Thank you! I think I am going to love my Teva sandals!

Hi everyone! I hope that you all had a fabulous Mother’s Day weekend! I spent a lot of time with my mom and had a great time. Yesterday I took her shopping at our local mall. She picked out a new pair of tennis shoes and some stuff from Bath and Body Works. Today my whole family went out to eat at one of our favorite places, Five Guys! I know it’s not very fancy, but we love it!

In other news, John has been away for training for over 3 weeks, meaning I haven’t seen or even spoken to him. :sad1: The good news is he will be back next weekend! I know that this work week is going to drag by, but I can’t wait until Saturday! Plus, we will then be only four weeks away from DISNEY! :goodvibes

I decided to start posting updates about our specific plans for the trip. I am going to start off with what we hope to do the few days leading up to checking in at Disney. Now, please keep in mind that none of these plans are set in stone because I’m still not 100% sure when John’s leave will start. That being said, here are our plans for the first two days of our vacation!

June 9, 2011

This is the day we are hoping to leave. If all goes according to plan we will leave our home in NC pretty early in the morning, probably at around 5:00am. This should put at our first destination around 10:30 or 11:00.

Charleston, SC! Charleston is one of our favorite places on Earth and it holds a very special place in my heart because I have been here countless times with both John and my entire extended family. :lovestruc We are planning on stopping in historic downtown Charleston for the morning/early afternoon to do some shopping on Market Street. There is a shop there that sells a type of incense my mom loves that we can’t find anywhere else, so I’m planning on buying her some of that.

While we are in Charleston we will have lunch. I’m not exactly sure where we will eat yet, but I’m guessing it will probably be here:

If you read my PTR from my last trip you will know that Bubba Gump Shrimp is where we ate in Charleston on our very first trip to Disney in 2007. I have also eaten there with my family, so I love the memories it holds.

After our lunch we will hit the road out of Charleston probably around 2 or 3pm. This should put us in Florida by 6 or 7. We are hoping to stop for the night in another special place, St. Augustine! This is also where we stayed one night on our first Disney trip. We stayed at an amazing hotel called the Castillo Real, and we hope to stay there this trip as well. :cloud9:

June 10, 2011

This is (hopefully) going to be a very busy and fun day for us! We are planning to get up pretty early, have a walk on the beautiful St. Augustine beach, and hit the road! We will then drive to…

newptr29.jpg

The Kennedy Space Center! We will be spending half of the day here so that John can explore and learn all about the astronaut program. I can’t lie, I’m not excited about this part, but John really wants to do it so I’m fine with it.

Besides, afternoon and evening is going to be fun fun fun! After we finish with the KSC we will head to Orlando. Our first stop will be…

newptr30.jpg

The Titanic Museum! I have always wanted to go to the Titanic Museum in Pigeon Forge, TN, but I’ve never had the chance. I read about this one online and it sounds even better. I have always been fascinated with the Titanic, and I love the movie, so I’m really looking forward to seeing both artifacts from the actual ship and props from the movie. I know this will bea somber experience, but I am very interested in learning more about the trip and its one and only voyage.

After we explore the Titanic Museum we are going to spend some time doing my favorite thing…

SHOPPING! :woohoo: I am dying to go to the Premium Outlets in Orlando. I am looking forward to getting some great deals!

After we finish shopping we are going to find a hotel in Orlando. I don’t have any specific plans for that. I think we will just go where the wind takes us!

This brings us up to our check in day, June 11, 2011. However, I still have one more side plan up our sleeve before we head to WDW! Stay tuned to find out what it is! :rolleyes1

Nice Plan!!!!

I would love to go see KSC. It was on my list to do before I moved to Cincinnati but never did it! I graduated with a history degree so the history of it all interests me..as well as the Titanic!

I used to live right by those outlets and that traffic is NUTS!!! There's a pretty cheap hotel right by the outlets that a lot of college program kids stay at before their check-in days. It since has gone through a renovation but is very close to disney and I hear it's pretty good. I stayed at the Marriott Village which is near the outlets too. They have a bunch of marriott hotels and my dad has the CC so we used points for a free room.
The hotel used to be called Holiday Inn Sunspree but I think the name changed but you might want to research that.

The plans sound great so far!!! :thumbsup2 So glad you had a nice Mother's Day! We did too! :goodvibes

Hi, am glad to hear you had a great Mother's Day weekend and spent some quality time with your mum (or mom! :lmao:)

I hope this week goes extra quick for you and the both of you have a great weekend together :goodvibes

Your plans sound great! (Good luck with the 5am start - I would hate getting up that early but at least you have a good reason!)

I love that all the places you are visiting hold special memories for the both of you :lovestruc

I look forward to seeing how you felt about KSC and Titanic, as I love the movie!

Which Premium Outlets store are you planning to visit? Shopping is soo much fun!!

:woohoo: on it being only 4 weeks to go!

Yay, your first couple of days look like fun! I'd love to see Charleston someday, it looks like such a pretty city!

KSC is awesome! I went there once, when I was on one of my many Disney trips with my family, and it was really interesting! I just didn't understand at the time why we couldn't see a space shuttle take off, I thought they did that every day! :rotfl:

I love the Titanic too! That museum looks awesome!

I'm trying to figure out if we can add a day to the beginning of our trip (I'm hoping, since it's a Jewish holiday on Sept. 29 that Brandon won't have to work :confused3) and if we do, I definitely want to hit up those outlets and explore Orlando a little! We always drive by them, but never stop!

Wow! I can't believe how much you're going to accomplish before you even get to Disney! This is definitely going to be an action-packed trip. :thumbsup2 The premium outlets in Orlando are the best! I have found some amazing deals at their high end designer stores (hello, Dior. ;))

I don't know how you handle the separation from John so well! You are one strong woman. I am glad to hear he will be home soon! :goodvibes

I LOVE Charleston!!! We stopped there for a couple nights on our way to WDW this past July because my cousin had her wedding there! My whole family had so much fun and I hope we can get back there soon! :goodvibes

All of your other pre-WDW plans sound great! :thumbsup2 I can't wait to hear about your side plan!

The more I think about it, the more I am kind of looking forward to seeing KSC. It seems pretty interesting, even though I'm not really into space stuff. I can't wait for the Titanic museum!

Thank you for the advice about hotels near the outlets! :thumbsup2

I am so excited for my weekend with John!

I don't mind getting up early, but only if it's for vacation!

I'm not sure yet which outlet stores I want to visit because there are soo many! I know for sure I will be going to the Disney outlet! ;)

I can't believe it's so close! :woohoo:

Looks like a fun trip before you even get started!

Thanks! :) I'm so excited!
