I have made a terrible realization this trip. I am an EPCOT area person. I don't really care which one. Actually, I am loving Beach Club Villas and this will be the DVC I buy points from when I am able. However, I do also love the Dolphin. I have stayed there a couple of times and I must say the beds are WONDERFUL!!!!!!!!!!!. And the Swan and Dolphin are less expensive than the other 3 hotels. I just feel so much more connected, if you know what I mean, by staying in the EPCOT resort area. Other than a couple of nights at AKL Concierge so I can do the Sunrise Safari, I have a feeling I will be staying in this area from now on.

sounds like a great trip so far. i've never stayed in Epcot area other than the Dolphin for 2 nights before the cruise last year. I'd like to try it out sometime. Now that i am DVC, maybe i can. I also love that whole area and try and make a point to at least wander the boardwalk a bit.

We ended up buying at BLT - DH loved the monorail access and walk to MK, plus the low maintenance fees and longer contract. But i hope to be able to see all the resorts at some point. We do really love Epcot, one of our favorite parks!

I agree Kim. Plus having 3 small kids, getting to 2 parks via walk or boat is much more enjoyable than lugging a stroller on a bus, risking there not be a seat, or other bus issues.

I think we all have our own favorite areas. I used to only stay at POFQ until I got DVC. Now my favorite resort is AKLV. I'm addicted to it. I tried staying at SSR and OKW, but they just don't feel like home as much as the Lodge. I think it is the beauty that WDW offers so many different places for us to enjoy.

Kim, I totally agree with you. When we first went to Disney we loved the monorail resorts. But we found ourselves eating dinner every night in EPCOT and it was a long trek back with tired kids. So we tried BVW and really enjoyed the backdoor entrance into EPCOT. We are planing on trying BCV next time. Unless I find a super deal somewhere else in that area.

we love that area - have stayed at the dolphin a couple of times and the swan once. love the access to epcot and studios, plus the boardwalk! i think the dolphin is wonderfully themed - that is usually the knock against it by those who think it isn't 'disney' enough.

I love the Epcot area resorts as well! It's so convenient to Epcot and DHS. Not to mention the boardwalk area. When I stayed at BC a couple years ago I spent many nights just walking around the boardwalk. I was really tempted to stay at the Epcot area on my upcoming trip just for those reasons. But I really want to try different resorts so picked a split stay at AKL and POFQ.

I think the Heavenly Beds at the Swan and Dolphin make up for any lack of Disney theming. I sleep as well at the Dolphin as I do at home. I have a plush pillow top mattress. And my last room there was on the 12th floor and I could see the whole of DHS and all the way to CBR. It was fantastic.

I think we all have our favorites. I stick to the MK resorts because my mom likes the monorails (I don't have DVC...yet...) and mom is 78 years young...

BUT... that said... I can see why so many people love the DVC resorts around the lagoon by Yacht and Beach and Boardwalk.
