One of the things my wife and I enjoy most about our Disney trips is our interactions with Disney cats. Actually, we only interact with one of the cats and then we observe the others. This trip we had a new experience in that while we were attempting to visit one of the cats we always see at DCA, we also happened upon an opossum! The cat in question was at a distance from us and was sort of shielded by some grass/brush. It was not responding to us when I noticed movement well away from the fence and off in the dark-it was well into the night. Upon noticing the movement, I immediately recognized the creature as an opossum. Its face came into the light, and it stopped briefly to look at us. Actually, it was kind of creepy. In any case, the cat remained still and displayed no observable response while we were there. We left, thinking that cats and opossums are probably not friends and we would leave them to their world.

The next day we hung out a little with the cat in question that appeared as it always does-somewhat aloof but briefly generous with its affection-to my wife-I keep my distance so as not to court any disdain;)

We saw a Disney cat this morning - made my daughter's day! It was small and white with a grey stripy tail and hiding in the bushes at the Disneyland Hotel. We would have loved it to come say hello but it stayed in the bushes. Does Disney feed the cats?

Disney does have a few feeding stations for the cats -- dry food only. The feeding stations are not there to be the cats' primary food source, but to help out when prey isn't as plentiful as it could be. We've heard from CM friends that nursing cat moms seem to use the stations a bit more regularly than the other cats, which is understandable. The opossums have been seen more often lately. We saw one on the tram route, one by the Lilo lot, and one by the Winnie the Pooh ride. Pickings must be good in the parks right now.
