The Cast of Disbug Family Players Consists of:
Tom (DH): confirmed anti-Disney spouse, who forebears all things Disney for the sake of most of his family! Slightly resembles Tim Allen from "Home Improvement" and has been known to compete for Neighborhood Christmas lighting prizes! I have secretly heard him "Ar-ar-arring" with satisfaction when the last "Osbourne Family" display has been lit...
Savannah (DD15): border-line anti-Disney teenager who must be an alien (or taking after her father) because she has sworn NO MORE Disney trips with family! Prefers to filter the sounds of real life through her headphones and Sony Walkman. Does not believe parents ever listened to "Rock and Roll"...
Sierra (DD9): DEFINITELY MY CHILD and a true believer of the Magic that is only found at Disney World. Would rather ride Mission Space over and over.. then make a run for Rock N Roller Coaster than just about anything! Understands the VALUE of a FastPass and can't BELIEVE they are FREE...(That's MY girl!)
Phoebe (DD2): normally good-natured, sweet little princess who goes along with everything (except riding in a car). Is currently in a wheelchair/stroller and likes to smile and look at everything, as long as it isn't whizzing past at 70 MPH!
and myself, Denise as (Disbug)!Trip planner, Disney World Lover, trip report writer, mug maker for the Sigma Delta Sorority, and family fun seeker! Let the Story Begin!
As Christmas approaches I am humming a happy little tune because I realize in a few short days Santa will be here and the big guy can take over so I can stop wrapping presents! I love looking at my countdown clock on the Disboards and watching it tick away the seconds until we will be there! Still plenty of time, but close enough to get busy! I check my wall calendar to double check on the dates we will be staying at the POLY. We are supposed to be arriving on December 27th which gives me plenty of time to....ACCCKKK! No it can't BEEEE??? WHY DOES THE CALENDAR SAY we're supposed to arrive the 26th? Isn't that like the DAY AFTER CHRISTMAS? Taking deep breaths! Do not panic, do NOT panic! Keep in mind it is now almost Christmas EVE and I haven't started packing unless you count getting the luggage out and spread all over the house!... I am a firm believer when you are behind (WAY BEHIND) the only way to stay out in front is to just get the VERY next thing DONE right before is HAS to be! Let's just test that theory, shall we?
I have a few more mug orders to finish for the Sigma Delta Sorority (*see Sigma Delta or Swan/Dolphin FAQ thread for that saga!)and I get that done online so that (hopefully) they will be ready to ship when we come home. DONE! OK, I could have done this when I got back from WDW, but why wait?
I am wrapping a gift, hanging another ornament on the tree, checking the oven to see if the cookies are done! And throwing 3 more pair of socks and underwear in one of the suitcases... check, check, check! I have been known to leave all the toiletries at home, so I must double check everything! Halleluah, I am proof it can be done! But DO NOT TRY this yourself unless you are a PROFESSIONAL! You could get hurt...
DH is not coming down with us that morning, he will follow later in the day so I must make sure I have everything we will need in one mini-van. I am OH SO PROUD of my packing and stacking abilities after much practice. I am able to get all the luggage, a cooler on wheels (stuffed with a gal of milk, Coronas, chardonnay, and bottled water), DD2's wheelchair, diaper bag, the all important meds bag and nebulizer, a 3 ft Christmas tree with lights, a box full of snacks, cereals, breakfast food, and a giant TIKI MYLAR BALLOON into the car. After all we are going to the POLYNESIAN for the first time EVER and Mr. TikiMan will be one of our room decorations! Oh, don't forget the DVD player, my IMPORTANT STUFF bag and my pin trading bag. I also have a couple of gifts to deliver to the Dolpin and Swan Resorts, so I MUST NOT forget them! Now have I forgotten anything? NO? Okay, kids! Get in the car! Kids? KIDS? OK, so they are already IN the car... an HONEST MISTAKE...Let me arrange a few spaces in between the seat belts and move a few things...now we can get those few extra bags wedged in with the kids! 5 days or 5 weeks it still takes the same amount of luggage!
I am finally packed and ready for both summer weather (sans ponchos and mister fans) and winter wonderland (complete with mufflers and gloves)...so, we can be off! Not as early as I'd planned, but HEY....we're going to DISNEY WORLD! honk! honk!
