A Disboutiquer's "just another trip report" --THE END! updated 8/28

What a lovely wedding! I loved the update and it sounds like you really had a great time. I remember the electrical light parade too: I remember sitting on my dad's shoulders for it and then when it was over my legs were asleep up to my thighs! I will never forget as long as I live!

Izzy Bella is ADORABLE! I have a 2 year old golden- they are so much fun and so good with kids. Thanks for the bonus Disneyland trip-- that's great. Main Street Electrical Parade!!! I miss it so much And relaxing in the original Tiki room with a Dole Whip... heaven on earth. Also love POC & Blue Bayou at DL. Can't wait to go back... and for more of your trippie :)

What fun!!

DL sounds like a great time, but I would have been all over WICKED!! I love love love that show. Did you know the soundtrack, or did you go in cold? Did you get chills when Elphaba defied gravity at the end of act 1? That is an amazing theatre moment!!

We would have also been so excited to go to the AG store! :cloud9:

:rotfl: and I thought I was uncomfortable sitting on the sidewalk

I will always have lots of fun memories of my childhood at Disneyland! I'm fortunate that my parents took me several times, which is surprising since my dad was totally a "don't spend money" kind of guy and NEVER went to the movies or anything like that. I think he must've been a little caught up in the Disney magic!

What fun!!

I went into it totally cold which I am kind of glad about. It was awesome. I LOVED that scene! Our soundtrack is on the way from Amazon.com :cool1: Somehow DD10 knew some of the songs beforehand :rotfl: She has some theater lovin' friends.

What a great day at Disneyland! Your pictures are great too. :goodvibes

Thanks!

I took notes on your TR because I can never remember what I want to comment on!

I can't believe they almost landed with another airplane on the runway!:scared1:

Tessa is incredibly impressed by Jayden's heart shaped watermelon and cake!

Is that famous guy doing a semi-Miss Cammie eyebrow arch?

How cute are the bride and groom!? I love that she wore flip-flops and that they coudn't stop kissing!

It sounds like you had the same type of relationship with your nephew as I do with Corey. He was born when I was a teenager and he was my little buddy (still is). I think I'll bawl like a baby at his wedding (which will be VERY far in the future, I'm sure).

OOOOHHH!!! The Dream Suite!!! How cool!

The girls are so cute in their matching Minnie dot!

That Tigger tail is so cool! Is that a cookie, or what?

That's so sweet how you guys were laughing through SM. That sounds like a magical memory.

Well, if Tessa likes the AG Cafe food you guys will HAVE to meet us in Chicago the next time we go! (okay, not until Lily's 9th birthday, but still...) And just for the disboutiquers, Hailee's outfit is made out of Walmart Minnie dot and Jayden's is the more recent Hancock Minnie Dot :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl: A Tigger Tail is I believe 3 marshmallows on a stick dipped in caramel, dipped in orange chocolate, drizzled with regular chocolate. For those who don't like orange chocolate, they have a milk chocolate version, but then it's not a Tigger tail. According to the lady at the bakery (the one by the exit of Splash Mountain) that bakery is the only place to get an official Tigger tail. You can watch them make them through the window. I love that bakery!

sounds like a lovely wedding.

Hi Scott! :wave2:

I love the mini trip report within the report. The wedding looks beautiful but I love that you got so much in for the quick trip! I am so jealous and miss all that already!

Dallas too would ask for legos!

Okay, it's a date!! :thumbsup2 But, you'll have to bring Luke along! Hmmm...by that time, he and Tessa will be 12 or so, right? Maybe we wouldn't actually want them to meet at that age! :rotfl:

Great Reporting, Jhammie!

Beautiful wedding too!

Izzi-bella looks like my Amber wuppy a few years ago! Great dog for kids!

Update please!!!
:smooth:

Okay, I am working on my next official update (AK) and hopefully will get it done today :confused3 In the meantime, here is the end of the wedding trip. On the last day we got up, packed, checked out of our hotel and headed for the beach. We drove up and down the beach a bit and ended up stopping at the Santa Monica Pier. I got myself a Diet Pepsi and DD a pretzel and we headed for the beach while my Dsisters hung out a bit on the pier.

She couldn't wait to splash in the waves!

IMG_0672-1-1.jpg

The nasty old seagulls stealing DD's pretzel practically from my lap.

IMG_0676-1-1.jpg

The beach was nice, the drive back to the airport and the trip home were very smooth and uneventful. It was a really nice trip.

UP SOONISH: Animal Kingdom, EE, and Boma!!

I did not take notes and my memory is getting fuzzy, so I’d better hurry up and finish this TR!! We got up and ate some snacks in the room for breakfast (probably) and headed to the bus stop. We were off to Animal Kingdom :cool1: I love this park! I’d only been here once before in my life. Fortunately we have never been when the weather was REALLY hot and humid, so that aspect of the park never affected us. In fact, the weather this day was GORGEOUS!!! Probably the best of our trip. It was a tad on the warm side, but we didn’t mind! We got there a few minutes before the park opened.

DS8 wanted me to take pictures of this:

IMG_0643-1.jpg

And this:

IMG_0646-1.jpg

and this:

IMG_0644-1.jpg

But not so much this: :rotfl: (Luke was obviously too busy to be photographed from the front)

IMG_0641-1.jpg

IMG_0647.jpg

When the park opened, I took the kids to get in line for Kilimanjaro Safari and DH went to get FPs for EE. We got in line and it was moving really fast. We were worried about DH catching up. Finally, at about the last possible moment he appeared at the front of the line. :confused3 I have no idea how he got past all those people. The safari was fun. The kids loved the animals.

IMG_0687.jpg

IMG_0680.jpg

We had to stop for a couple of minutes because the giraffes were blocking the road—yes they were this close. It was cool.

IMG_0667-1.jpg

After the ride we walked over to EE. Along the way we stopped for our only photopass photos of the day.

image144-1.jpg

image143-1.jpg

DH and DS8 went on EE first while I waited with the other kids.

IMG_0688.jpg

Look at those Cindy Brady pigtails :rotfl2:

IMG_0689.jpg

Then DD10 and I got to go. DS5 wasn’t too sure about it (yet).

We LOVED it!!!

We then walked over and rode Dinosaur. Luke wasn’t too sure about this one either, but he went on it anyway, so I stayed behind with Lily. We waited in the gift shop and were just looking around when some CMs came up and started talking to us and commenting on Lily’s outfit. They were so nice and there were 3 or 4 of them just sort of standing there by the exit of the ride. It took me a few minutes to realize it was the Dream Team (this was the only time we ever even saw Dream Team members on the whole trip! I started thinking they were waiting for people to get off the ride and maybe DH and the kids would get a dream :cool1: Nope, out of the blue they suddenly bolted out a back door. They did give Lily a “my first visit” badge though.

We had just enough time to hurry over and catch the Nemo show so off we went. Just as we file in and get seated, DS9 announces “I left my glasses on Dinosaur!” He has not had them long, and I guess he took them off an stuck them in the seat pocket on the ride. So DH and DS9 took off to find the glasses. I was hoping they’d make it back in time for the show, but no one had turned in the glasses yet so they had to wait for every car to return and check all the pockets. Fortunately the did find them though! We loved Nemo. It was a cute show. Afterward we met back up with DH and DS9 (thank goodness for cell phones!) We then headed off to Flame Tree barbecue for lunch. I can’t remember what we all ate, but it was yummy! We all loved our food and the kids loved the birds running around their feet.

IMG_0691-1.jpg

After lunch I did a little shopping—BY MYSELF! While DH took the kids on Kali River Rapids. I caught up with them at the Pangani Forest Trail. The kids were soaked!

IMG_0696-1.jpg

But they wanted to go again so we headed back to Kali River Rapids. I went with the kids while DH waited with Lily. DD10 and DS5 wanted to go a third time so I stayed behind with Seth and Lily. We managed to find a shady bench near the ride’s exit and were waiting quite comfortably (I wore a poncho on the ride so I wasn’t really wet) when a woman at the bench next to us starts smoking. Now Seth is really sensitive/easily irritated by some smells. One is gasoline, one is cigarette smoke. I was just waiting for him to freak out. Now I did not know if this was an official smoking area or not so I did not say anything. Soon a CM comes up to this lady and tells her very nicely that she can’t smoke there, and tells her where the nearest smoking area is. She is very polite in return and extinguishes her cigarette. Whew, that ended well…or so I thought. Not 2 minutes later, she glances around, leans over in the bushes, re-lights her stub and continues to smoke away. I’m thinking “Whuh?????” She is blowing smoke about 5 feet away from my baby in the stroller, my 9-year-old is about to lose it, I’m not about to get up and lose my comfy shady bench, so I lean over to her and say “umm…didn’t he JUST TELL YOU not to smoke here?” Sheesh! The nerve of some people! She looked kinda guilty and put it out again. WHEW. So eventually DH and DD in their soaking wet glory come off the ride. We head back towards EE. The line is not too bad so we decide to go again. I somehow convince DS5 to go on it. He is not afraid of roller coasters or fast rides, it’s monsters and red eyes that get him. I even told him about the yeti, explained everything I thought he might be afraid of, and told him that I still thought he would really like it. He was brave enough to go “with Daddy” so they went first. He actually said he loved it and still says it was one of his favorite rides on the trip, but I’m not sure if he would of gone on it again, at least not right away. I wish I had the ride photo! But no, I ran and got on the ride with the big kids instead.

Here's poor Lily, waiting again.

IMG_0697.jpg

After the ride we were distracted by…The Magic Bus! Mmmm..ice-cream…giant ice-cream cones…

IMG_0698-1.jpg

why do I not have pictures of the actual ice-cream cones? They were yummy.

Next we kind of wandered around a little. AK is a nice park to do that in. The kids wanted to see “It’s tough to be a bug” so we headed there. Lily fell asleep in the stroller.

IMG_0701-1.jpg

So I waited with her while the rest of them went in. While I was waiting and enjoying the glorious weather, I decided to call my little sister and rub it in a little (like she did to me on her November trip) she informed me that we had just had a HUGE snowstorm and she hoped my neighbors were plowing my driveway or I would likely not be able to get into my garage on my return home. Later I found out that my neighborhood (which usually manages to receive more snow than most parts of the valley I live in) had received several feet of snow while we were gone—and yes, someone did plow our driveway for us. All I could do was laugh and tell her it was so warm I was actually possibly sweating. MUWAHAHAHA!! We walked around and took some photos of The Tree:

IMG_0703-1.jpg

IMG_0704-1.jpg

The kids wanted to go check out The Boneyard, so that is where we headed next. They really had fun. I really got bored and tired of trying to keep my eyes on 4 kids running in different directions while DH yakked it up with some other parent sitting on a bench.

IMG_0705-1.jpg

IMG_0706-1.jpg

IMG_0707-1.jpg

After this, we went and bought a few pins and did a little trading. It was just about parade time so the streets were getting crowded. We were tired and it was getting close to time for our Boma ressies, so we thought we’d skip the parade and try to beat the bus traffic out of there. We had a nice little ride over to AKL where we sat on the verandah and watched the animals a bit.

IMG_0708-1.jpg

DH took DS8 to the potty and never returned and never answered his cell phone so we headed down to Boma and checked in. Finally just as they call our name, DH and DS8 show up. We were tired and I was worried about how the kids would behave at dinner but no worries. They LOVED Boma, especially DS8 who is the pickiest eater with no appetite. He was in heaven.

IMG_0710-1.jpg

I can’t even remember the foods, but I know I liked everything—except the meat. I’m not a fan of rare meat. DH loved it though, and the sauces they had for the meats. But I was very happy with all the salads and veggie dishes and fruits. Great restaurant for a vegetarian, which I’m not, but ate like one that night. The kids loved their fruit and mac n cheese and chicken strips and also tried a lot of new foods.

She's not really stabbing herself in the eye, I'm just a little short on pictures for this installment ::yes::

IMG_0709-1.jpg

So Boma gets a :thumbsup2 for sure.

After dinner we headed off to the gift shop. While there with all the kids in their matching shirts, a couple—probably old enough to be my parents—see us and shout “there they are!” and come running up to us.

They say “WHERE DID YOU GET THOSE SHIRTS? We saw you earlier in the park and have been in every shop at Animal Kingdom, and now came over here looking for them and haven’t seen them in ANY shops and no one seems to know what we were talking about!” I said “I made them” and their faces just fell. I felt bad they were disappointed but they made my day!! They loved my shirts!! In hindsight, it WAS the end of our day. I should’ve just said, “buy my kids shirts in this here gift shop, and I’ll give you the sweaty ones off their backs.” :rotfl2:

We waited forever for a bus back to wherever we went, I can’t remember, back to AK, or to MK or DTD or somewhere where we then caught another bus back to our hotel.

Here we are waiting:

Luke workin' on some moves:

IMG_0712-1.jpg

Finally on the bus:

IMG_0715-1.jpg

We got back to our room and found this:

IMG_0717-1.jpg

Which thrilled DD10 to no end. She LOVES monkeys!!

We had a great day at AK, we did not get to see everything I wanted to see (hello! Festival of the Lion King!) but that just means we have to go back some day right?

Up next: It’s already day 7! Back to Epcot, a surprise DISmeet, Akershus, DHS, and the dinner from H E double hockey sticks.

What a wonderful installment!!! I loved all the pictures!

Tessa rode on EE too. She isn't scared of roller coasters and such, but like Luke, she was scared of the Yeti and the dark.

Tessa said she didn't know Luke could drive AND do karate. He just keeps earning points in her book. :thumbsup2

How cool that those people had been hunting all over the place for the shirts you made. :cloud9:
