A disaster that might still be salvageable...

Yesterday I found out (very long story, but basically a visa issue that was brand new and completely unexpected cropped up), that my caregiver wouldn't be able to come with us to Disneyland. For most people this isn't a big deal, but I'm a single parent, my older son is special needs, and his younger brother isn't tall enough to go on rides with a height requirement. Aside from the safety issue, trying to go to Disneyland and tell my older one he's barred from all his favourite rides that we've been watching on youtube and that he went on last year isn't going to happen. Sadly, Disneyland doesn't offer a toddler check-in service.

I started looking at local caregivers with passes, but they're really expensive. I just need an extra pair of hands and someone who can switch off with me for rides and maybe naps, but it's significantly cheaper to just pay for someone's flight down. I think I might have a couple possibilities for people who might come, which is amazing, but my big question is if I can switch the Disneyland ticket vouchers. When we go to redeem them, do they ask for ID at the front? I'll have my ID, so two out of the three names will match. Does anyone know?

I might email Disney directly about this as well, but I just want to see if someone here has any insight.

You will be fine to use the voucher for someone else. It is not technically tied to a person until you get the ticket and they sign their name and get their photo taken.
Good luck. Hopefully someone you know can come with you. I would be skeptical to trust someone I did not know with my kid.

Oh, that's amazing to hear! I'm so excited about that.

Looking for someone local is a little daunting. There are people on Craigslist, etc, but you never know what they'll be like, and they can be expensive otherwise, especially with the Canadian exchange. A return flight to LA is fairly reasonable (and would cost what one day of a "Disney nanny" would cost), and I already have everything else.

When do you plan to go? I may know someone who has been a live-in nanny for 4+ years and she has an AP.

If you're still looking for help while there, I HIGHLY recommend Deborah Bingham (Nanny in the Kingdom). She's AMAZING!!

I've replied to your PM starry_solo, thanks!

I did manage to find her for an online search, she's available three of the days I'm there. She looks amazing, and I'll admit, I didn't even know it was an option. I'll probably look into her in the future, since I'm planning on coming back around Thanksgiving. Right now, because I've already got the park vouchers, I'm hoping that one of two people will be able to come down with us - they just have to see if they can work out adult responsibilities. Especially with the exchange rate, it's much more expensive to hire an onsite person than to fly someone down with us. In American dollars, a return flight to LA with the DLR Express from/to the airport is about $250USD. One day of someone in the park with us is around $200USD.
