A directionally challenged person's view of driving in WDW

We rented a car from Alamo for this past trip. Because I can get lost in a box I have generally used WDW transportation. This trip though because we were staying in a villa at the AKV and we had a 14 month old with us we opted for a rental car. Let me say this to those of you who are worried about driving in WDW, it was great! The signage was easy to read and understand. We drove to Epcot, DHS, DTD, CR for dinner and the GF for the afternoon tea. I just loved the convenience of having the rental. We are DVC members so we used the free valet parking perk.
I have the AAA preferred parking pass, but we did not need it in Epcot because we were there early and parked really close to the entrance. We did use it in DHS and it was right after the handicapped parking. It was an easy walk to the entrance, we did not use the tram.
I will admit, that I did mess up leaving the airport, but were able to get turned around without any problem.
When I go by myself I do not mind using the buses etc because I go with the flow and do not worry about waiting for the buses. But when you've got a toddler, stroller and 3 other adults to get going, the car was really a blessing.
If you were running late it was great to just call the valet and have the car ready to go when we got out front.
When travelling with family I will rent a car again, I may even consider it when I travel solo.

I thought I was the only one that could get lost in a box!!!! For the life of me , I can not tell you which way is north, south, east or west. About all I know is the sun rises in the east and sets in the west, but cloudy days are really tough!!!!:dance3:

Go out now and buy a compass. You can get one at Wally-world in the camping section for $3 -- put the thing on your keychain and you'll feel much more confident no matter where you are.

But even if I had a Compass, that wouldn't help me :rotfl2: I wouldn't understand cuz that little dial moves all the time. The life of the lost!!!

Dang, I'm usually GREAT with directions, but I can never find Old Key West when I'm at Disney (especially bad when I'm staying there and it's 1 AM on a MK EMH night/morning)...

Good info. How do you get the AAA parking voucher? I have AAA and have a rental car in August.

I bought our park tickets at our AAA office ( I am a member) and I was given the parking pass at that time.
