I know alot of people are upset at the recent changes announced at DW. However, as magical as it can be, Disneyworld is a business. When we first heard about the ending of MDE, my family and I were a little bummed, but not to the point of ranting. We know that while Disney gives off the impression of being in a bubble, alot of that is due to our mindset. I am not saying being frustrated is right or not being frustrated is wrong. All I am saying is, nothing we say will change it. So we must make a choice, let things like this upset us and ruin our vacation, or shrug it off and adopt the attitude that nothing will spoil my vacation. If I had to choose, I would choose to be happy. After all YOU ARE ON VACATION!.

Actually outcries from guests do have an impact as does voting with your wallet- no onsite for my family with the changes. Complaining here alone will not do it but writing to guest services, twitter tags, etc are things that Disney does pay attention to.

I am all for not letting small stuff ruin a trip. I had a trip once in May where it downpour every day and rained almost all day and on an Extra Magic Morning event Mine Train went down as we just finished but before the station and we were stuck in the rain on Mine Train for a large portion of the event. We still laugh about it and we had a great time.

That being said I know for many losing DME is not small. I doubt anyone is "on vacation" currently stalking Disboards about this. But Disney is changing and with it I will be changing my plans and where I spend my money. I refuse to keep paying to stay onsite as they slice and dice the experience. To each their own.

We are DVC members, we never included ME in our decision making process. I see how some are upset, however the service was getting to cumbersome . We contemplated renting the last few trips, this coming up trip in 89 days we decided to pull the trigger and rent. We are actually looking forward to the freedom.

Understanding that your family not using DME and thats ok but doesn't take away how useful it is for those- with disabilities, traveling alone, with small children, uneasy drivers, etc. For many, it was part of their decision to stay onsite.

Taking this away, makes our Disney vacation just like any other vacation. Now we can all stand in lines for rideshares, town cars and rental car counters together. It also increases the demand for those things - significantly. When demand goes up, prices do as well. So we have that to look forward to - this will impact everyone, the DME users and the rental car/rideshare people.

And that bubble mindset is not our making - it was purposefully cultivated by years of Disney marketing.

I would never have considered visiting Universal prior to this, now I'm pricing out tickets.

We'll have a rental car, might as well go.

If i never used something, why would I care if people were ranting about it being gone? It's no skin off my back.

But we used it, we convinced people to stay onsite because of it, we certainly didnt BUY DVC because of it but gosh it sure was a good bonus and by the way, the costs of DME are baked into what we already pay for. So it's not like we are lamenting a free service.

What is the impetus to stay onsite? I get where you're coming from - but you have to understand that this is a big hit to a lot of people.

I'll miss DME and the luggage service (hopefully they will keep that in some form), but I'm fine with the change to every park opening early everyday for resort guests. It was always a pain to plan around which park had early entry on what day and how that changed crowds in that park for that day.

Sorry about the previous post. That is what I get for typing too fast

I hate complaining also, but for me, this is a matter of staring at the premium price tag and what I need in my brain to substantiate the cost.

The reason we're willing to spend more on Disney than any other vacation is that Disney bubble feeling where for that week you really live in their world of great service and convenience. We're not even huge Disney fans, but the feeling that creates is special and memorable for us and makes the huge cost worthwhile.

With these changes, they're slowly ripping away the reason we are willing to spend more in the first place. We went on a Royal Caribbean cruise in 2019. Our first non-Disney cruise. It was 60% of the price and great. Sure it wasn't quite the same level of quality or service, but we had a blast. As they start removing the perks and level of service on Disney vacations, it's just becoming harder to find it to be worth it. And it's sad to think that at some point soon we're just going to stop doing WDW because the product no longer warrants the cost.

....funny you should mention that, because the first thing I thought of when we arrived 3 weeks ago at MCO and saw the signs for the US/IoA transportation, we thought, boy they have a lot of catching up to do with ME!

I have never flown. I don't use ME.

But it is still included in the rack rates, as are EMH, ability to purchase dining plan, make reservations 180+10 days out, book fast passes at 60 days, free parking and countless other "perks" that have been removed that are still included in the room prices.

So yeah, I think people have the right to rant about it.

Once you walk down to that level of the MCO airport and see the lines snaking around the rental counters, you might wish DME were still an option.
