A different LF question

My DD and her BF will be going to Orlando to celebrate her graduation. Part of her trip will include a stay onsite at Universal. Although she is blue in LF and would be entitled to that benefit, I am platinum and was wondering if anyone has ever added their name to a reservation but then not showed allowing the other members of the party to get LF benefits?

ps. I am feeling somewhat heat proof so if you feel the need, flame away.

AFAIK, in order to take advantage of your platinum benefits, the reservation would have to be in your name. The reservation cannot be in your daughter's name, with your name on it. That would not entitle her to the suite upgrade. If you just don't show up, and it's your reservation (as opposed to your daughter's), I am not sure how they would handle that. They could reserve the right to downgrade her room.

If you + DD + her BF = 3 adults, you will be charged the extra $25 per night, and it will be reflected on your rate as well, on your confirmation. If they let her keep the suite, it's probably worth it. If they down grade her suite to a standard room, she's left with a rate $25 extra + taxes that she'll have to argue about, which may be a pain if the hotel is sold out and current rates for a standard room are not available or have gone up considerably (e.g. Super Saver rate, AAA rate now sold out, and left paying rack). Also, you could risk the reservation being considered a "no show" and canceled if it's in your name and you are not present at check in.

You could talk to a reservation agent, but who knows with them. They're in their own little worlds, and you could get a different story with each different reservation agent. Best to decide on a hotel and contact management if this is something you're really interested in pursuing.
