Okay so loooong story short I am doing the CP from Jan. 18 to Aug. 3. Shortly after I arrived (YAY excitement!) I got real sick. Went to the doctor and WOOH! I'm pregnant. Entering my second trimester to be exact. Now The daddy-to-be lives 300 miles away and the pregnancy hormones are making me pine for home. Is there anyway to leave the program early and not get screwed with the no rehire status? I want to work for the company but I need to go home where my support is and have this baby. Puking every 15 minutes at work isn't very profressional and I don't make enough money here to support me and the babe.

Bit of info: bosses DO NOT know I'm pregnant because the nurses at Health Services behind Epcot said that CP's aren't allowed to get pregnant. I think them terminating me is a lot worse than self-termination. Sorry it happened before I even moved up here :rolleyes1

Hey!

There was actually a lot of discussion going on about self terming here a few days ago, but I don't personally know much of anything about the whole process. I just remember that it was eventually explained as to how to do it. I think somewhere in that thread it mentioned that to avoid a "no rehire with the Disney company anywhere in your life ever again" status, you have to give Disney a two week notice. So I guess if you can stick it out that long...you just get slapped with a restricted rehire status for six months. I guess you're kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place-self term without notice-no rehire. Get caught pregnant-who knows, but probably a no rehire. I guess it's just your call really?

Good luck!

Okay first of all congrats on the pregnancy. It might seem scary or bad at some points but I wish you the healthiest best pregnancy out there. Second by the Civil Right Act of 1964 Legally you cannot be discriminated against due to your pregnancy. The technically cannot fire you specifically for that reason. They might brunt your job but they cannot terminate you immediately. That being said if you have a copy of the contract you signed you can see if it has any clauses regarding this particular thing. If you decide to terminate you should speak to them about the no-rehire status as it could be defunct due to the reason that your leaving. If they don't rehire you because of your pregnancy that is also discriminatory and Disney tries to avoid cases like that. If I were you, I would make an appointment with your advisor or manager and discuss viable options. Please read a bit before you go in just incase your manager tries to intimidate you. Technically you should be able to get 12 weeks off unpaid and they hold your job but it might behoove you to offer alternative options to them such as they don't put a no-hire on you instead of keeping the job.

Anyways I hope you find what you need to do and to give you a little bit of positivity one of my good friends (I'm 17) got pregnant at 16 and she had to fight for her job at Barnes and Noble because of their policies. So you should know she came out with a job and enough money to put her child through college.

Have a wonderful day!
Heather
