Does anyone know where can I get the fried oreos.. it sounds delish! I really want to be able to try some while we are there.. thanks :teeth:

The only place i have ever heard of it was someone getting it as a gift from the chef at Boma. I'd love to know if there is anywhere that this is a menu option as well!

That sounds great!! We have a place here by us that makes deep fried Snickers Bars and they are to die for!

They don't seem to offer fried oreos, but Cookes of Dublin (counter service place attached to Raglan Road at Pleasure Island) offers fried candy bars. I haven't tried them, though, so eat at your own risk! :)

We had one @ Cooke's. It is a deep-fried Snickers Bar. It was good but had been sitting out a little too long and was quite "mushy". I would get one again if it was free on the dining plan...but wouldn't pay for it.

I may be dreaming this but I could have sworn I read that were a specialty dessert at Jiko once upon a time. Anyone know differently?

I think they are done up at Boma.

We LOVE the orea bon-bons at Cape May Buffet over at the Beach Club. It's an orea base with chocolate mouse on top, then sprayed with milk chocolate.

I was thinking of the bon bons at Cape May too. I never have eaten one. But DH LOVES them.
I have seen the signage showing the fried candy bar at Raglan's walk up. Never tried that either.
Other than that, the only place I recall seeing fried oreos is Halloween Horror Night at Universal. DH said they looked better than they tasted. I had a small bite. It was okay. :confused3

I've had Fried Oreos here in Pittsburgh, at a place called Trax Farms. As long as you don't think about what you're doing to your body, they were good. Not great, but good.

Definition:Fried Oreos-traditional African food served at feast days and coming of age ceremonies. Must be eaten with great reverence.. :rotfl2:

DH and I had them at Boma once. I don't know if you can order them; they were a gift from the chef. We just happened to be in the right place at the right time. ;) They are so good!!! Not as sweet as you would think.

Sounds tasty but OMG I dont want to think about how fattening it must be..I feel my arteries hardening thinking about it..lol

Interested in the fried oreos, but I REALLY want to know where your picture was taken. It looks BEAUTIFUL!!

We had these last year at Boma. When I went in I had heard so much about TJ, one of the Chefs, that I wanted to get a picture with him. I asked for him, and he graciously took a picture with us. About halfway through our meal he brought out this fabulous dish. Ribs piled high like a crown and topped with those noodles that go POOF when you drop them in the water. It was amazing. I didn't get a picure of it though. And when we were almost finished he brought out the fried oreos. They were so good. So my advice is....be nice to the chef. He may surprise you.

Chef TJ is wonderful, he use to post here on the DIS and that is how we met up once before. The first time we ate at Boma's I asked our server about one of the items on the pods, he said it was not African and "go figure it's probably chinese, like one of our chefs".... fast forward I posted about this one the boards, to which TJ replied, of course he was not from China, and we both got a good laugh! He told us to visit him the next time we came and he presented us with a wonderful rib dish, for DFiance's B-Day, our family came out to Boma's and he did the same, but also the Fried Oreos, Rum Balls, etc. He is very nice and does a wonderful job! They call him Mr. Boma and there is a real reason why, yummy stuff he makes... =o)

After that night we sent him a cute Pooh thank you card and photo of us and the dish we made, we were very thankful for his thoughtfulness and my grandmother was blown away with delight, it was a great night.
