We are off to Kissimmee next week and one of the things we want to do is have a day at the beach.Any suggestions to which one?On previous trips we have visited St. Petes and Daytona.
There are no kids on our party..Cocoa Beach is one we are considering
Thanks

We always take a day trip to Clearwater. It's about 1 1/2 hours drive from Kissimmee, but worth it IMHO. We love it there:D

I love all the beaches so I'd base it on the weather on the day - Cocoa if it is REALLY hot as you get a great breeze on that coast and the water is cooler - or St Petes/Clearwater if the weather is a little cooler.

Great minds cslogg :bounce: :bounce:

We did an overnight stop last year - spent the day on Madeira Beach and went to Busch Gardens the next day.

We arrive this Sunday and on Wednesday we will spend the day at Cocoa Beach - stay overnight - then head out to the Kennedy Space Centre.

It feels like a 'mini-holiday' staying overnight - and it is also much more relaxing.

Enjoy it if you go.

last year we had 14 nights in florida and were coming home on the sat so on the final thursday we went down to clearwater for the day to see some of my g/f's parent's friends who live out there

then we spent the following day at typhoon lagoon chilling out then went to halloween horror night at IOA

it was a real good way to end our holiday

We've just come back, and spent a few days at both Daytona Beach and Clearwater Beach-both nice, but we'd go back to Clearwater Beach. Choose Daytona if you're into Speedway- Daytona USA is worth a visit.

Cocoa Beach is the nearest but Clearwater is the best.

It is approx. 90 minutes from Orlando area but worth the extra distance, the sand is much whiter and the beach much wider.

I definitely agree with JohnnySharp. We went to both Cocoa Beach and to Clearwater back in April. DH & I much preferred Clearwater. We found Cocoa a bit tacky to be honest in comparison - and Ron Jon's Surf Shop was a bit of a let down. More cheap souvenirs than real surfing gear.

DS preferred Cocoa for the waves, though.

ps We found it took us longer than 1.5 hours to get there from Orlando. Traffic around Tampa was very heavy and going into Clearwater beach we got stuck in tailbacks for ages.
