I am thinking of a cruise the week after Easter next year and wondering about the weather (April 20 - 25) and prices. Is it much more expensive to go at school holiday time? This year we were at the parks and some room rates were more. (I got the great teacher discount at the Swan:D ) How early do I need to reserve a room? My DH and I went on a honeymoon cruise 12 years ago and now it would be fun to take the kids.:D

this is gonna cost you lots. you should get a quote for the week you are thinking of, and then have a couple different weeks at different times of the year priced so you can compare.

DW is also works in a school so we went on Easter. It is more expensive during that two weeks during Easter. The ship was "full" but did not feel full. Plenty of space.

We got flights many months ahead and used points for the hotel stay overnight at Hyatt.

I was afraid that it would be a lot more. Maybe we will try going during the summer. Will DU give me quotes on 2 different weeks so that I can compare? Thanks for the fast replies!:D

I wanted to tell you that we're in a similiar quandry. We want to take the Easter cruise, but for us it's pricing out to be $5000. I've also looked into the summer thinking it would be cheaper and it's really not. For most weeks in the summer (except the last week of Aug) it's running us around $4500, so since it's not that much of a difference if we decide to go it will be the Easter cruise. We're waiting until our Nov cruise to book something, since we'll get the $200 credit. The cheapest times on DCL are Sept - Nov and Jan - Feb, at least what I can determine. We're traveling in Nov this time, since DD will still be in preschool, but next year she'll be in kindergarten and I don't want to take her out of school. It seems if you have to travel around a school schedule, it's the most expensive time on DCL.

We are also going in November(2nd thru 9th). In NJ there is a teachers convention that week, so the kids only miss 3 days of school. And the price was right also!Easter week this year was almost 2,000 more for the same week in November!

We have this mind set that we will always pay extra for WDW or any disney vacations... :D

We have been blessed that we have been able to do so :)

We went the week b/f Easter which was Spring Break for us and alot of people. It was expensive but worth it. I didn't even know about this website till after I booked thru a TA. I don't know when it's cheaper but I would think the summer would be high also. Just pick a few dates and get the prices and compare. Have fun whenever you go!!!!!!!

Lori,
If you are planning on waiting to book your Easter cruise (2003) until November just to get your 200.00 on board credit, you are making a mistake. I booked a category 6 room about a month ago for next Easter. I then discovered that a Secret Porthole room was available so I changed my ressie. After giving it more thought, I decided I really wanted the verandah room after all so I called my travel agent back and she told me that there was only one Cat. 6 room left but the price had already gone up 600.00 since a month ago! Because I already had a ressie, I didn't have to pay the extra money but as you can see, the prices are climbing and the rooms are selling fast! You will save more money if you book NOW rather waiting for the 200.00 credit. Hope this helps!

We sail on the Wonder every year for Easter (as well as for Thanksgiving). The weather has been great, and although we pay a premium for the holiday, it is worth it to us because it allows us to save some vacation days. It's also the best way I can think of the spend the holidays!

I looked into cruising Thanksgiving 2003-my twins will be in kindergarten-and the cost was $2000 more for the Western cruise that week than the cruise 2 weeks prior. DH and I are now considering going again before the kids start regular school-we don't want to take them out for vacations.

If you want to go at Easter and want a great deal, the room 5520 which is a secret porthole room with very little obstruction and not an adjoining room is available. I know because I just gave it up!
