You and others have sung the praises of Crocs in most or the TR's I've read. But when I mentioned to my wife about trying them for our trip this July she questions how can a plastic shoe feel comfortable in the heat and humidity of Florida. Does anyone know of any good responses? Because it does seem like your feet (particluarly the toes) would get awful hot being encased in plastic.

Actually, the reason that Crocs are great and the pretend Crocs are not is exactly this. Pretend Crocs are plastic. Crocs are made of a special material called croslite. It was developed by a company that makes a wide variety of foam based products specializing in memory foam beds--that really wouldn't sell if they held heat.

(I don't actually wear Crocs because I need too much pronation support but I did a lot of research before we got a pair for my DW who cannot handle ANY heat buildup in her skin. She loves her Crocs.)

Yep, what she said! PLus, the material is beyond lightwieght and sorta spongy - it just molds to you foot as you wear it. The only real problem I;ve had is wearing them into deep puddles. The Beach model, anyway - just slipped right off my foot.

Pssst... wanna know a secret?? We have a reeeeally long hallway behind our office that few people use. Sometimes, when I'm feeling especially thin and the shoes are kickin', I practice my runway walk back there on my way to the ladies' room. Don't tell, though!

Mine’s a Sigma 17-70mm and I LOVE it! Wide angle, zoom, almost-macro allin one lens. The only drawback… it’s heavy as all get out. But totally worth lugging around for the shots it takes.

I think I posed this question on a "park strategy" thread a few months back, but with a bunch of moms of the pre-k/K set reading this trip report, I thought I might get a better, experienced answer! I have twin boys who just turned 5 about two weeks ago.

I noticed in those early day 1 pictures that Leo was not in a stroller. Did you lose it for this trip?

I am really struggling with that question. My boys have not used a stroller anywhere since they were 3-ish - I threw our one and only (double Graco) away because it got mildewy in our garage after sitting through 2 winters... The double strollers for rent seem big and bulky, but I won't pay to rent two singles, and so then don't know if I should invest and have to drag on an airplane some cheapo umbrella ones rather than deal with the doubles. If I do that, then I am kind of out of luck if we want to send one adult ahead for FP's or something...

I have a friend, also with twins, who went last Jan. for the MLK weekend, and even at 4, the girls walked the whole time, but I don't know how ambitious they were about getting a lot of places. My preschool mom friend who just got back Saturday from 10 days at the BC, and has an only child, says that they wouldn't even dream of going without a stroller, especially at Epcot, which is her DD's favorite park.

Opinions? We are not coddlers and more or less tell the kids to "suck it up" at the zoo and so forth, but I don't want everyone to be miserable. I also think about the storage in the stroller as a possible side benefit... Should we try the first two days at MK without, but maybe just rent one at Epcot, where the strollers might not be so much of a hassle? Am I delusional and we will need one every day? I know many of you have to fly, so is it worth buying the cheap umbrella type and taking it on the plane, rather than renting??? Ack!

I am under 2 weeks, now, and feel that I need to figure this out ahead of time, to ensure ease once we are there!

May I chime in? For us, taking the extra stroller for DD5 is absolutely essential. She's a little thing and I don't want to completely tire her out. Keep in mind the heat will take alot of energy from them, as well. Also, the reason we didn't rent one is b/c the rentals are made of hard plastic and I wanted her to be comfy. I also found the stroller very helpful at the airport, as we piled all our carry-ons on it and DD walked.

You know what you could do is buy 2 little umbrella strollers at Walmart for $10 each and then buy the attachments that keep them together. Should one parent want to run ahead with 1 child you could separate the strollers at that point. I was really torn last year what to do, since DD was 4 and DS was 2. Having 2 strollers was perfect and we're gonna do the same thing this year.
