We are new (as of Feb) owners at the Beach Club. We are taking a kind of last minute trip to Tampa and will be spending two nights at WDW. Naturally we want to go "home" to BCV, but it is sold out for the days we want (8/12-8/14) so we have a two bedroom at OKW instead and we are on the waiting list for BCV and BWV. My question is... will more reservations open up as more of the BCV are sold? Such that Disney can only rent out so many units if a certain percentage is sold? Do I have any hope for my BCV ressie to come through? thanks for all your help.

Dont' get me wrong, I am excited about OKW, we just wanted to stay at our home resort for the first time.

Oh, and I am really excited about going to WDW

It was my impression from my guide when I bought into DVC a couple of years ago that I might have a harder time booking the VWL when it was first getting underway since the number of reservation slots open were linked to how many units have been sold. I ultimately bought at OKW for this and many other reasons. If I was spending the money I wanted the maximum potential to stay "when" I wanted and OKW seemed to offer this better than VWL. This may not help you with your summer reservations this year because you are booking in a high demand time anyway and you might not see anything free up because of the competition to reserve. Someone else may be able to answer this with more accurately but this is what I was led to believe.

I'd suggest calling your vacation guide to see if they can work some "magic" for you. They can sometimes find availability in situations like this.

Yes, the availability is expanded as sales continue, but DVC usually includes more in inventory than is actually sold to keep ahead of this issue. For reservations this close. there really may be no availability except thru the waitlist- but I'd sure give my guide a chance to help!

Good Luck!

Sales generally follow the following pattern: they dedicate a number of units to DVC, then as those units approach being sold, they dedicate more. Possible, as a result, that more could open up but you are so close to August now that they may have dedicated to DVC all they are going to before then. The BWV problem is different right now--there are simply a lot of units out of service as rehab on the outside of those units occurs but still possible something might open up before you go. You will need to call regularly, particularly once you reach 30 days out, as the waiting list only applies up to 30 days out and after then you just need to call to see if anything is open.
