We have a suite booked over Christmas time and were wondering the following: Is there a door that separates the bedroom from the sitting area in the suites? Is DTD in walking distance? Is Golden Corral buffet within walking distance? Have you ever travelled with your dogs/cats, and how did that go? Thank you!!!!!!

Hello, this is my first post so forgive me if I make any mistakes.Firstly, our condolences to those affected by Hurricane Katrina, our thoughts are with you...with regards to Sheraton Safari myself and my wife stayed there in Oct '03 and really enjoyed it.We asked for an upgrade on check-in and were given a suite, not sure if there were any bigger suites but it was nice. There was no door between the sleeping area and the lounge area, just one big living space. We didn't see a Golden Corral on our travels but within walking distance (5 minutes or so) were Dennys,Olive Garden,Chili's,Bergamos,Damons and our personal favourite,Orlando Ale House. The Safari does a good buffet breakfast for about $8 and the you can eat in the bar at night for about $8-$15.We walked from the hotel to DTD,it took about 30 mins,a cab costs about $7-$9.Sorry,we can't help with regards to pets as we had to leave our cat at home when we went Stateside...I think you'll like the hotel, the pool's good if a little cold.

We recently stayed there and I believe there is a door to the bedroom. I know there is at least a door to the bathroom area that separates the bedroom from the living room, as I can see it in this picture that I took.

I believe, but am not positive, there is a door on the other side of the bathroom area too.

DTD is not within walking distance, at least not for my family. If you are good walkers and do not have kids, then maybe its possible but not recommended.

I didn't eat at the golden corral, so can't really say. I would say the Perkins at Crossroads is probably within walking distance.

I would say yes to Golden Corral, but no to DTD....not only is it a long way (I would guesstimate 2+ miles, but I am not great with distances) but walking down 535 and crossing it on foot would be for someone with a deathwish if you ask me!! After you get onto Hotel Plaza Blvd. there are nice sidewalks....but a long way to go still.

We stayed in a suite less than a month ago and there was a door between the LR area and the bathroom, kitchenette area and then another door between that area and the bedroom....so you could close off the bedroom and still have access to the frig/microwave area and bath or close off the LR. We were in a SPG suite on the 4th floor of bldg 4....don't know if other bldgs may have suites with diff configurations or not.

:goodvibes DTD is within walking distance. (about 1 mile) We have stayed here and walked there everynight. There are sidewalks from the hotel all the way to DTD. We have 2 small children and it wasn't a problem walking. We put them in strollers and off we went.
It is actually quicker to walk in this area since traffic gets sooooo heavy that it probably takes longer to get in the car and drive to DTD. We've walked past many cars as they sat idling in bumper-to-bumper traffic all the way down Apopka-Vineland road and through Hotel Plaza Blvd. There are crosswalks in front of the hotel and once you cross there, you don't need to cross the street again. Save the gas :)

Re maggiew...your suite looks a lot bigger and better equipped than the one we had...on second thoughts, when we asked for an upgrade on check-in I think we must have been allocated the cleaners cupboard!!
