Does Disney have a pharmacy anywhere? What happens if your child gets sick -- where do you take them and how far is it from the resorts?

What's there to do when it rains w/o a car (staying on site)?

We ended up going to a pharmacy/clinic outside the park for my son this past October for poison sumac! It was right at the entrance near DD. As far as rain...grab a poncho and go to the parks! You'll have alot of fun! We watched Illuminations in the rain and we was great! Have a super vacation.

There was a first aid/clinic station right inside of MGM. We went there last year when my dad developed a heat rash over most of his body. I think it was run by the local hospital if I remember correctly.

As for the rain, like Miscoehill said, just grab a poncho and have some fun!

You may want to post this over on the
Resorts Board and/or the Families Board.
Lots of similar questions have been asked over there *smile*.

There is also a first aid station near Crystal Palace in MK. Son that has severe reflux was brought in and they saw him right away. Friendly office type.

when we needed items from the pharmacy the WL arranged for them to be delivered.....they were there in about an hour....the delivery charge was something like $5 but well worth it

I believe the name of the drug store that delivers to the room is Turner drug. you can call the guest services at your resort and they should have the number. We had to use this service last year when both ds's were sick. The delivery fee was minimal.

I usually bring tylenol, cough medicine and Motrin in the diaper bag with me, but you never know when you are going to need something more.

There is a first aid center in every park. Basic first aid is provided free of charge - it's on the Mouse, I was told. LOL We had to stop there twice, once for bandaids and calamine lotion, and the second time for baby Tylonel.

While in the first aid center, I was told that if we needed a shuttle to get to the hospital, they would take us for free. Free shuttle service provided from either the parks OR from your Disney resort.

This was as of last week (Feb 5-12)

here is some information on rain and medical I have found:

Rain
When it starts raining people will leave the parks in droves, which leaves the parks a lot emptier and the queue lines with shorter waits. It is to your advantage to stay at the park and buy yourself one of the yellow rain ponchos. Or better yet plan ahead and buy one at home and bring it with you. In the summer I always suggest taking at least one clean dry pair of socks and shoes to change into if the first ones get wet. Rent a locker to store your spare socks and shoes, especially if you know it is going to rain for a good part of the day.
Hundreds of people whip out rain ponchos or purchase ponchos - all in yellow! It can be near to impossible to locate a member of your party, especially one of your children, when everyone looks alike. Purchase rain ponchos at home in a bright color; red, blue, orange, lime green - anything other than yellow, and keep them with you for the inevitable - you'll be able to spot your party a lot easier.
Do not assume that because there are no clouds in the sky it won't rain that day. It usually rains every day in the summer for at least 15 minutes. Keep an eye on the sky, as these cloudbursts tend to move in quickly. If you don't have rain jackets, you can purchase rain ponchos at a number of locations at any given park. They are small, light and compact and will fit into a book-bag easily. TIP: Rent a locker to stow your rain gear, and bring a plastic bag to put it in once it’s been used.
Don’t leavie the rain gear in the room because it doesn't look like you’ll need it. As stated above: rain comes up quickly. Always have the ponchos with you.

eeyore kelly -- Thank you SO MUCH! That was so helpful. Thanks to everyone else too!!! These boards are great! :teeth:

The only thing that I think has changed is the poncho color sold at WDW. I think they are clear now. I'm partial to lime green ponchos myself ;)

Just go to the front desk. They will help you then or give you a pamphlet for when you decide what you want to do. They will transport you to a doctor or hospital. There are a lot of options available. I just decided to go to Sam's Club and my family doctor faxed them a prescription.
