A Couple of Sci-Fi Questions...

A couple of questions about Sci-Fi:

1) Do you have to ask for a 'car table' or do you automatically get one when booking?

2) Is there a difference between the lunch and dinner? If so, which is better?

3) Best choice on the menu for a family who likes everything American and Italian on the menu?

4) Can you only get the glowing ice cubes with the alcoholic drinks, or can you order them with, let's say, a Diet Coke?

I don't know the answer to all of these, but I will try to help a bit.

I have heard mixed info. on the car thing. When we went to check in and asked for a car the CM informed me that ADR's automatically got a car while walk in's got what was open (usually a regular table). I have also heard though, even while making the ADR, that you need to specifically ask for a car when you arrive to ensure you receive one.

Lunch and dinner menus are a bit different. I would suggest looking out on AllEars at the menus posted to see not only the differences, but also what items your family might really enjoy.

Not sure about the lighted cubes. But, there are many experts out here who I am sure could offer more assistance.

1. No. we never did we always got a car. I think if you want the tables in the back you need to ask for that.

1. We were a group of 5 when we went and they offered us the choice of sitting 2-2-1 in a car or a table that I presume is designed for 6. The majority of the tables are the car type.

2. There are different menus for lunch and dinner. (You can find them on allears.)

3. I had the burger, my son the ribs and the other kids in our group all got an Italian chicken sandwich. Everyone loved their food.

4. I don't know about the glow cubes in soft drinks. They have them in drinks in all the WDW restaurants, so I imagine if Sci-Fi didn't want to part with one, you could find another place that would.

Have fun! We had a late lunch at SciFi and really enjoyed ourselves. If you're there on a hot and sunny day, you'll find it very soothingly dark and cool.

1) We have never requested a car table and have always gotten a car. I imagine that if you have a party of more than six you would be automatically seated in a modified car table (tables with actual chairs but car hood and tails). When you check in at Sci-Fi you could always mention that you definately want an actual car table if going at a busy time.

2)From my understanding the dinner menu has changed quite a bit. Definately check HERE to look at the both. We usually go during lunch and really enjoy it.

3) Speaking strickly about lunch - the burgers, onion rings, chili, Italian grilled chicken sandwich, smoked turkey sandwich and club sandwhich (not sure if that is still on the menu) are all good.

4) I would imagine that you could ask for a glow cube and I seem to remember seeing kids with them before and don't think they were enjoying martinis.

They play trailers from B-grade horror and SF movies, newsreels and cartoons. There are a couple of "go visit the snack bar" interstitials thrown in. All are period-correct. The loop is roughly 40 minutes long.

If you've never been , you will love it if you are into kitchy type stuff. The movie trailers are a hoot and the last time we were there the wait staff would shout out things during certain parts. Lots of fun!
We have never asked for a car but always gotten a car . We always use ADRs.
we have ordered burgers, chili,grilled chicken, pasta, milkshakes, onion rings, and it is all good. If gourmet is your thing, this isn't the place. It's just a casual menu.
Glowing cubes can be ordered in any drink for a price ( somewhere around $1.5-$2).

There is at least one Tom & Jerry clip where they are in outer space, the B&W classic "Attack of the 50 foot woman", and other B-rated '50s - 60's type sci-fi movies. My kids (7 & 3) love the Sci-Fi.

We got a car in 2007 when we went and we didn't request it. You can get the glowing cubes with any drink as my 3 kids did. We're making ADR's there again on the 23rd for our May trip! I can't wait!!

We have eaten at SciFi 3X. First time we were given one of the "cars" with the regular table in the middle. We didn't complain as we were a party of 6 and did not have ressies.

Last 2X we have had ressies and were seated in the cars. The only time I requested it, though was for our last trip. It was SIL's 1st time to WDW and I knew he would enjoy it.

We have always eaten burgers, sandwiches, fries, and onion rings. We thought the milkshakes were very good. I think there are drinks listed on the menu that come with the glow cubes, but we were able to get them in our cokes just by asking.

My 7 yr. old tends to laugh at most of them because they are soooo cheesey. My 3 yr. old will say "Ewwww" to some of the slimy looking creatures but he has never acted afraid.
