Hi DVCers :wave2:

First, would you stay at SSR or OKW (with two young children, ages 7 and 3) if you didn't have a car to get around in?

Second, which resort or resorts has the most convenient setup for both sit-down and counter service restaurants (located AT the resort) if you happen to be on the dining plan?

Thanks everyone. :sunny:

I would say SSR for both answers, especially if your oldest enjoys water slides. OKW is very nice but it is also very spread out. It could be a long way to the main pool and water slide and you would have to take the bus to get there. OKW also goes not have a counter service restaurant (no, I don't count Goods To Go as one). SSR has the Artist's Palette plus all the DTD restaurants nearby.

Both good choices, but with no car SSR would give you the easy walk to DTD, where youll find lots to do with the kids and plenty of eating , take out and sit down. :cool1:

We drive down to Disney and DO NOT get back in our car until it is time to check out. It has never been a hassle at all.

you absolutely don't need a car at WDW. every year we park ours when we check in and don't get it again until we drive home!

Count me in on the SSR votes. We stay at OKW, but because of the children, I wouldn't consider doing so if we did not have a car.

At SSR, you can easily walkover to DTD and catch a resort bus to one of the resorts with a larger food court. Artist's Pallette is more like a deli than a food court.

but Olivia's is a very nice restaurant for any meal. We like to eat breakfast at Olivia's.

I'm not sure if you are asking the restaurant question about OKW and SSR or all the resorts, but I will give you my opinion ..

Beach Club Villas!

You have all the places at the Beach Club, Yacht Club and within easy walking distance, the Boardwalk.

Also, not having a car there is no problem what so ever.

I have to second this one...partially, just because....well, I love the BCV!! But, also because I think it is true.

BCV has SOOO many dining options for small children (my dd is 4)...she loves Beaches 'n Cream, and eating at Hurricane Hannas around sunset is really cool, too (especially when she gets the kids meal with the bucket and shovel...we take it, and some bread to feed the ducks on the beach and make sand castles, even when we don't feel like SAB). BCV is also the only DVC property to have a character meal onsite....Goofy's b'fast with Minnie and Chip/Dale is really good, and you can't beat the location. Also, the BCV marketplace has really good food (hot sandwiches, custom caesar salads, etc) and yummy gelato and gourmet desserts. For nice family meals, Cape May cafe has a really good dinner buffet, and for Mom and Dad...you can have a nice, romantic steak dinner at Yachtsmen Steakhouse overlooking SAB.

Plus, you are near the BWV restaurants, and just a few minutes walk from all the yummy food in Epcot! Seriously, our only complaint every trip is that we feel like we didn't spend enough time at BCV. There is so much to do there, but at the same time...it is SOO relaxing!!

There are plenty of transportation options at SSR. You can walk or take a boat or bus to DTD, and from there you can get a bus to any resort. From SSR you can take a bus to any park. It's a short ride to the waterparks and the Epcot/MGM area. MK and AK are a bit longer rides, but direct service (the buses aren't shared with any other resorts).
