Do the passports at Epcot cost anything? I think this would be a good thing for my kids to do. I would also like thoughts on taking a camcorder. I'm afraid by the end of the day I will get tired of carrying it around. If you do take one what are some must have shots?

Camcorder

I would not go without mine!! Yes, I will be tired of carrying it, but that is where DH come in! lol. Since I will have a backpack & he will have a fanny pack we will trade carrying sometimes.

I can't imagine coming home & not getting to watch my videos.

I heard the passports were well worth it with kids. They get to have it stamped at each country and talk to people dressed it native attire. Fun for adults as well. And I heard $10 each.

The passports are freat. We took 2 foreign exchange students with us to Epcot once and they were as excited as little kids to put their stickers in their pasports and get them stamped and signed by the CMs.
People have posted about making their own as well. They found pictures of the different countries on the internet and had their kids make their own passports out of construction paper. The CMs will stamp and sign handmade ones too, so if money is a problem, don't think you can't do passports.

Take the camcorder! We kept it mostly in the stroller but, sometimes I'd look for it and, I was Carrying it myself! They're pretty lite-weight now so, I don't think it would be a problem (and I don't have a mini-one either!). Just remember to tape! Makes for wonderful "home-movies"! You'll be glad you did!

I would definitely take the camcorder! We always have, and we're glad we did because we watch our Disney tapes all the time!

If you don't want to carry it around all the time you can do some of these things:
1. If you're staying onsite, and taking mid day breaks, either bring the camcorder with you in the morning and leave it at the hotel for the afternoon, or leave it in the morning and bring it in the afternoon. That way you don't have to carry it all day.
2. If you have any adults or older kids going with you, take turns using the camcorder, so one person isn't using it the whole time
3. If you're bringing a bookbag, you can just store it in there if you don't feel like carrying it anymore.

But I would bring it, because it is definitely worth it!!!

As I recall, there are two different kinds of passport. One kind is free and the other kind (fancier/sturdier) costs money. We've never used either kind, but we might check them out this time.

My kids watch our Disney trip videos constantly. They are more important to me than still pictures. In fact, I think I've decided just to take disposable cameras this time so I don't have to carry my "big" still camera, but I'll still carry the video camera!

We were just watching the video of our first trip the other day. DD #1 (now 8yo) was then 2. DD #2 (now almost 2) somehow knew who she was watching! I would have thought she would have thought it was herself. They look just alike. DD #1 had on the cutest Minnie Mouse dress. I HAVE to find it. It must be in a bin somewhere in the shed. It would be so cute to have DD #2 wear it at Disney in September!

I was also wondering if i should take my camcorder or not after spending the day at the zoo with my son and taping him all day i wouldnt go without it. It was so much fun to watch what he did and how he reacted with the animals. There is nothing like watching your memories over and over agian. Michelle
