I know there was some talk about construction near the petting zoo and wondered if that means that the petting zoo is closed and there are no longer pony rides. My soon to be 4 year old was looking forward to this, but if thier not available, I want to break it to her now. We still have about a month to get her excited about something else if I can tell her now.

With the haunted carriage rides going on during October will they still offer the wagon rides? If they still have the wagon rides are they offered all day or at a specific time in the evening?

If we have visitors to our cabin can they park at the cabin for a couple of hours or do they have to use the overflow lot? We are still debating on if we should rent a golf cart or not, but if we don't it would be nice if our guests could just park at the cabin, it would only be one other car.

At the bike shack do they have the little tow behind trailer things for little kids, or if we bring one of those and rent a bike can we attach it to the bike? This may help us out with the golf cart question.

Okay I think thats it....Thanks for your help everyone!:goodvibes

There is no construction currently near the petting zoo. The ponies are still there. Not a problem. Have fun.

For the past three years, at least, they have cancelled the regular wagon rides for the month of October, and only offered the Haunted Carriage Ride. I would expect this year to be no different.

You are only supposed to park one car at each cabin, but this rule has not been enforced lately. There is usually enough room to park two cars at a cabin, and truthfully no one will bother you if you have an extra car there for a couple of hours.

No bike trailers for rent. They probably don't want you to attach a trailer to a rental bike, but they probably won't stop you from doing it. Depending on the size of your group, and how long you want the bikes, it would probably be cheaper to rent the golf cart.

Thank you very much for your answers. I'm a planning freak sometimes and just want to make this go as smooth as possible. :lmao:

I will start looking into a golf cart. Might be best since my mom is having foot surgery right before our trip. Makes sense to me...get a toe cut off then go walk around Disney for a few days! Its a no brainer.

Thanks again!!:thumbsup2

CooperPrincesses in regards to your ticker on the bottom of your posts, are you entering the Disney Princess 1/2 Marathon?

Pony rides, yes. Petting zoo, no. It's been gone. Something about a kid getting sick after petting a critter some years ago. And no swimming in Bay Lake. More sickness due to things in the bottom mud. Except for triathloners. I guess they are supposed to be fast enough to outrun the mud crud.

Yes I WAS planning on running the 1/2 marathon. Would be the first one for me....however there has been a slight change of plans. DH and I just received the shock of our lives and found out that we are expecting again. :scared1: Soooo I don't think it is a good idea to run my first 1/2 marathon at 6 months pregnant.

A complete bummer for me as I was really really looking forward to it. I am going to keep running though, and be one of the first ones to sign up for 2012. :cool1: It looks like an awesome run, and it benefits the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, which is an added bonus for me since my mom is a 4 year survivor of Acute Myeloid Leukemia. So while I have to give up 2011 I am a definate for 2012. :woohoo:

Oh that is to bad about the petting zoo, my daughter loves petting all the critters. :lovestruc

Still if the ponies are there that is good and should make her happy.

The lake thing is hysterical, they ought to let Florida residents swim in it, becuase growing up in Florida your in and out of lakes and rivers constantly and usually catch all the fresh water yuckies by the time your 10. :lmao: I speak from experience. Maybe all the Triathaletes are raised in Florida or have to swim in Florida for a while before they are allowed in the lake. :cutie:

Thanks for all you information!!:disrocks:

Oooo I thought of another question..of course...

We're going to be at the Fort from the 20-24 of October, will Halloween decorations be up then, or do they go up just a few days before Halloween?

My daughter and I both love looking at Halloween decorations, we go all out at our house, so it would be great to ride around the Fort and look at all ya'lls decorations. Yep I used "all ya'll" I am from Georgia after all. :rotfl:

Maybe if the decorations will already be up I'll bring our inflatable horse drawn hearse, it is my absolute favorite decoration. :scared1:

Heck yes the Fort will be decorated for Halloween.

Last year, the TCD gang took a pre-Halloween trip to the Fort, which you can read about here: TCD's 2009 Pre-Halloween Trip Report

We were there from 10/15-10/18.

If you look at the very first post in that link, you will see that there were already a ton of decorated sites.

FW doesn't do much Fall decorating.

They rely on the campers to do it for them.

You should definitely bring your Hearse.

There is plenty of room around the cabins, and they have outside electric outlets. Go to Target or someplace and buy yourself some cheap Halloween lights, too. You can hang those around your porch. Your four year old will be most impressed.

Have fun!

Thank you again you are just a fount of knowledge. I will definately be packing some Halloween decorations. Yay!!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

I have also thought about running in it. It would be a 1st for me also. I really want to run the 1/2 Marathon in October and also do the 5k in Oct., but I am just starting out and not ready for this year. I am going to try for next October.

Good luck to you Kim. :D My friend and I was so excited about doing the Princess 1/2 but somone had other plans. We've been doing great with our training for the past three months, so I really hope to keep it up. I want to be able to have a fantastic 1st 1/2 Marathon in 2012.

Let me know how you do, and again good luck to you.

Oh and definately thanks for the congratulations, I am still trying to get used to the idea. :flower3:

Oh I thought of another one.....you guys are going to hunt me down and whip me with wet spaghetti noodles by the time I actually get to the fort. :lmao: Only 30 more days, and we start our countdown calender today. Yay!!:woohoo::woohoo:

Anyway...I read somewhere that the TV's in the cabins have VCR's and not DVD players. I have Disney movies in both formats and was just needing to clarify before our trip so that I know which to bring for my DD. Not that she will probablly have time to watch one, but just in case. Do you guys what they have in the cabins?

Thanks again!!

Two of the cabins we have stayed in had a combo DVD/VCR machine. The other only had a DVD player. I would just bring your DVDs. I suspect they are phasing out the VCRs.

I hope you guys have a great trip. The weather should be nice. Enjoy decorating your site, I can't wait to hear about the trip and see pictures. My mom found a mickey/minnie jack o lantern at Walgreens on sale, so the Halloween decorations are being accumulated. Can't wait to see what you guys come up with.

Thank you for the info, I will just pack the DVD's. Like I said she probablly won't watch them, but its nice to have just on the off chance. Plus they are great for the ride down from Atlanta as well. Thanks again. :thumbsup2

They have some Disney Halloween decorations at Kmart also, and they are on sale this week.

Here's probablly a rather stupid question, but regarding the cabins in the 100 loop do they ever put regular guests there or do you have to know someone that knows someone that knows someone?

I mentioned to the reservationist that my mom is having foot surgery and that we wanted to put in a request for a cabin that was kinda close to everything. I meantioned the 100 loop and said I realize that its a long shot but she didn't shoot me down and said it could happen. Was she just giving me false hope?:guilty:

What do you guys think? :confused3 Should I get my hopes up or brush up on my piggy backing skills for my dear mom?:scared:

On rare occasion, regular guests have been assigned to one of the cabins on the 100 loop. But it is rare. There are only two cabins, and they are generally in use by VIP's. I would not get your hopes up, but anything is possible.

Depending on your situation, the 100 loop cabins might not be the best fit for a person with mobility problems. These cabins do not have any special modifications for handicapped guests. And, while they are close to the marina, they are not close to either pool or the Meadow area, or even a bus stop, for that matter. One of the handicapped accessible cabins near a loop entrance (I know there are some in the 2800 loop), might be a better choice.
